So I got in to go for a ride and the "low coolant" indicator was on. I filled it up and on I went. I've been noticing an antifreeze smell after I pop the hood after a drive. Any ideas on where to start looking??? I can't find any puddles so I'm suspecting it's evaporating while the engine is hot and stopping before a drip or puddle starts. ARGH!

Nothing on the ground, nothing in the oil, nothing seeping from the pump, can't tell if anything is coming out of the exhaust....

Any other "usual suspects"?

could have bad head gaskets...how many miles on the engine? is it N/A or forced induction?

N/A, motor was rebuilt about 4 years ago. If the head gaskets were bad, shouldn't I find coolant somewhere (oil or exhaust)?

if the head gasket is bad, coolant can get into the combustion chamber and burn during combustion...

but also check your oil because it can show up in there

how would I check for that? would the plugs show something?

im not sure how they would look off the top of my head but the spark plugs may be able to tell you something... try googling "reading spark plugs" and take a look at all the different images and their descriptions.

also if you were plannin on changinng your oil soon, i would drain it and take a good look at it too see if any coolant is in there. the only way to know 100% sure is to pull the heads but that is a PITA. make sure you rule out all other possible causes before that because you said the engine wasnt rebuilt that long ago

Could be the intake may have a crack also.
