First autocross of the year, April 3, at the North Park swimming pool parking lot. I am planning on being there, hope to see what the Cobalt will do with sort of real tires (245/35r18 R6's). Come on out and run, or just hang out. 4 door black Cobalt, stop and say hi!

I usually make it to a lot of these events, don't know if I'll make it to this one but I'll see. Towards the end of the season last year, I threw a new suspension on my car. It is just non-adjustable Tokico HP shocks and H&R springs, but for a 140k mile almost stock mustang it handles great.

I get a kick out of the way you shift when you autocross, I feel like I am at PRP. :) You make me feel at home again.

I hadn't planned to have the vette out yet, but once I check with my schedule (aka my wife) I'll see if I can make it.
Mike, I'm going to be selling a lot of my autocross suspension pieces here soon from my old '94 cobra if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer man if I was more into it I would be interested but I'm more of an amateur/exhibition auto-x'er, the curves confuse me, more of a straight line guy. My Mustang is just my DD anymore, only money I want to put into it from now on is just to keep it running and driving and looking respectable.
You will have a lot of fun with that vette though. :goodidea:

It would be a 2+ hour drive for you. There are a couple vids floating around on youtube if you want to see if the lot is worth it to you.

Mike, no problem. The suspension I had would not make for a pleasant daily driver with the 425lb coil-overs up front and 325's out back.
Mark- I did a quick look and what do I find??? Mike tearing it up...

I want to get out and get some seat time in with this car before the season really starts. I don't know what to do about tires though as I don't have the funds to get the trailer road legal, hitch on the car, and a set of wheels and tires. I will be forced to run on the stock wheels and some sort of street tires. It came with new Goodyear F1 super car tires up front but the rears are about done. I have 4 falken azenis that will fit the front of the car, but I would still need to buy 2 tires for the rear, but the falken's are damn near as expensive as the stock good year F1's! The Nitto NT05 are much more appealing from a price standpoint, but I don't think mixing tires front and rear is a good thing, especially when I am trying to learn the car and its characteristics.

In that video I was on my old suspension with 225 wide General econo tires right before winter, haha, fun fun.
My buddy got a go pro over winter I will have to borrow that for some runs this year :)

I have a standard flip camera, it is actually pretty good quality vid, and it doesn't shut off under, uh, vibration.

That looks like a good time. I think i'll come to watch. I'm not gonna have enough miles on my car yet to participate. Does anyone know if passengers are permitted? If so Mark, can i ride with you once to see what its like?

They actually only allow competitors to ride along. If you decide to run I will gladly take you for a run.

Yep. That's it. Not sure if I am going to that one or not. Probably going to save the Hoosier's for Time Trials. Might be picking up a set of NT01s for summer tires though.

Those are some sticky tires. They probably won't last long.

They will actually stand up to track use unlike the stock Continentals or the garbage Sumitumo HTRzIII's. I got about 8K out of the Conti's and about 10K out of the Sumi's. Only two track days and an autocross (well, they were TT's) on the Conti's, and one track day and an autocross on the Sumi's.

Probably won't know until it gets closer. Unlikely though, unless they make it a TT.

I'm hoping to make it out there as long as the weather cooperates and I get a chance to car my car aligned beforehand.
I tried to get some experience in F stock all last season and waited until right before I put the car away to do springs, shocks/struts, and camber plates. It's been a long winter waiting to see what the new suspension can do.

Will you be running ESP then this year?

I'm still too inexperienced and under-modified to have a prayer in ESP, lol. I have a spare set of 18x8.5 Bullitts with 245/40 Hankook R-S3 street tires that I've been using for autocross, so it looks like I'm going to run in STX for now.
From talking to a few guys, I'm actually pretty close to being able to stay F-stock as a Shelby GT clone if I had done the FRPP springs and kept the stock mounts, but where's the fun in that?

Actually, it seems since the 05's came out FS is pretty much as fast as ESP, locally anyway. Especially if Strano shows up...
Except at NP. You have to run street tires in stock classes, unless you run PAX only, which is what I will be doing.
