Project Look Fast

LOL, Been gathering parts for Wifey's 'Vert. This is just going to be a clean some things up and paint it type thing. it's staying 2.3 & auto, will discuss a small turbo on it this winter ;) I have to say, it's a pretty fun car to cruise around with the top down :D

As you can see, the car came to us with the GT nose and Tail panel in place (but no rockers). The car actually takes better pictures than it really is. The GT parts are likely rattle can paint, or something that's pretty shabby. The car itself is VERY solid, just a few scratches and little dings.

I looked at just adding the GT Rocker covers to this and in the end it's going to be a PITA, looked at putting the LX Nose and Tail back on, but she likes this look (Hence the "Look Fast" part of this ;)

So I picked up a set of Cervini's Saleen style rocker moldings. They fit with the LX moldings and seem to finish the look a little better when I hold them up there ...

And they passed the "Lab test" ... he really wants us to get a feline so he can complete his investigations with a cat scan ;)

Also picked up a flat trunk lid (no luggage rack) to go on there ...

More of the "Look Fast" thing ... It's a 'vert so no vent visors but she is still looking to decide what tail lights she wants (cheese graters are gone) and Smoked LED's are leading right now :rolleyes:

One of the first mods' was to loose the White 4 lug Cobra R's that came with it in favor of the ponies (Could not stand it looking that fast ;) )...

Also notice it now has new lights with clear corners.

Sooner than later. The side skirts took a while to get and just showed up. Those are the last of what we needed as far as moving to paint ... just need to find a slot in someone's schedule now ;)

Well if it was ultimately up to me, they would be SVO tail lights, but I have to give in a little ;) Not my style, but she likes the LED's and it will have a long LED third brake light with the new spoiler.

We also made some decissions on the look fast part, the car is getting a mild turbo engine once i get it back ... just need to pick up the shortblock and decide if it's going Megasquirt or if I'm going to convert the harness to a turbo processor. Never a dull moment.

LOL, Like I said, it's easy to make progress when you arent the one doing the work. it's easy to upload pictures ;) Hell, I'm on west coast time right now and the car is on the east coast :D

I guess this lets a detail out, but we are painting the trim on this body color. I like it this way on my Capri, and saw another red convertible done this way and it looked good to me. Most of the trim is rough, so going body color will clean it up a lot.

I have seen that little "pucker" that you can see toward the front of the side bolster on other seats that was redone. Sort of strange, it is actually sewn into the covers like that, sort of odd to me.

Looks really nice Bob. Upholstering is tough work when you're working on bucket seats. Nice choice - in my opinion, the cloth is way nicer than leather in those cars.

Don't want to hijack your thread, but did you happen to notice if there was a place to screw on a seatbelt runner like a vert seat has ?
I'm thinking about buying a used set of covers that came out of a vert. If there's no provision to screw the runner on I'll end up with two holes in the side of the seat.

I still havent decided what I'm going to do about those. The frame is basically a big piece of steel in that area. I am going ot look at the "newer" SN95 loops and see if they will work. The little "tabs" the LX seats now have are useless. I will post pictures of what I do in the end.

Fronts are 17 x 9 with 255/40 tires, rear are 17 x 10 with 275/40 tires ... I need to figure the back spacing, all I have are the "offset" number now ... a quick look with a tape measure puts them around 5.5 front and 6.5 rear, but those arent exact. Going to be tight everywhere ;)

Boost is to be determined. I have several options for short blocks, one a stock compression turbo core, the other has slightly higher compression pistons. Boost will determined on what way I go. The plan is to end up on pump 93 and a little north of 250 rwhp. I'm using an IHI turbo on this one so 15 - 17 ish
