FYI for everyone who has Comcast hi-speed internet service. I recently switched to Verizon's new FIOS internet service because it was a comperable service for less money (34.95/month versus 42.95). When I called Comcast to cancel my service they offered me 29.95/month to stay, using the speed of thier service as a selling point. Then when I told them that I switched to another hi-speed service and mentioned FIOS they informed me that they could offer me 19.95/stay. Verizon is also offering bundeling deals with the FIOS phone service, and DirectTV, and they expect to have their own version of cable TV available through the FIOS network around the first of the year.

You can only get FIOS if Verizon has the Fiber Optic cable installed in your area. To find out if you can get it go to Verizon's website and search for FIOS, they will ask you for your Verizon telephone number or address and tell you if it's available in your area. I doubt Comcast knows exactly where it's available so if you have their internet service I'd call them and say your switching even if you can't, I bet you still get the deal.

If your phone company didn't use cans with strings hooked to them as phone lines you could get SSL. :bouncy:

i just called, told the lady all my friends have switched to FIOS, and she offered $19.95 for the next 6 months. 6 months is better than nothing i guess. to be locked into that $19.95 would be pimping.
