So driving home from work today in the 'Stang. Got the AC pumping because it's so hot outside.

After 5 minutes into my commute I'm going across the Fort Pitt bridge and merging to get on to 279N when my car alarms- look down and it's all the way in the red overheating! I change lanes to head into downtown and park somewhere to check it out, praying that I didn't pop a headgasket- I'd been beating the shit out of the car a few hours earlier at lunch with one my GIANT (6'4" and at LEAST 350lbs) employees in the car. I flipped the AC off quick and put it on full heat- still in the red. SHIT!

So now I'm doing the speed limit heading into town with the temp gauage still in the red...and BANG! Some ****ing dickless shitbag in a white Dodge Stratus ****ing clips my rear driver's side quarter panel out of nowhere!!! Then crosses two lanes and takes off down 376E!

I tried to catch their plate and couldn't- was afraid to give it any gas and chase because it was completely overheated - I was basically ****ed!

Got into town and out of nowhere the temp gauge snaps back to normal and the car stops alerting- I'm thinking the thermostat was stuck- really the only thing that could've happened as far as I can think of. Parked in Market Square and gave it a look over- coolant level was just a little bit low- threw in a bottle of water I had in the car and it topped back off.

Rear driver side quarter panel is scratched up, but really not that bad all things considered.

What a weird life I have. Don't get me wrong- MUCH worse things can happen and it's only a car! But man...WTF.

Sorry to hear that. Happend to my brother in law who works downtown. Some guy hit him and took off weaving through traffic in almost the same place.

Jeez - that stinks. Could have been worse, sure...but still stinks.

You know, you might be better off that you couldn't chase the guy down. Who knows what would have happened. People are nuts anymore. The guy probably didn't have insurance, or had warrants out for his arrest or who knows what. Why else would he run?

Good luck getting the car buffed out and sorting out the overheating problem.

Thanks guys! I didn't get a chance to get the plate number- he flew around me and took off before I could get a look at it.

This car was absolutely immaculate when I got it- 13,000 miles and it looked brand new. Less than a year of ownership and I got hit by a deer last fall (yes, the deer ran into me) and now this today!

I think the worse part about it is you could of chased him down and the car wasn't over heating. Just a weird fault! You did the right thing don't risk your motor over something stupid!!!

Also.... A deer ran into me before too lol. So I know what it's like. It ran right into the side of the car!! Nobody believes me!! Lmao

Yeah, it definitely sucked.

Regarding deer, we've been run into twice- once in my wife's 93 LX and again with my 05 GT last fall. The one last fall was BAD- big deer running full blast basically pit maneuvered me, smashing my rear drivers side wheel well area BAD before putting hoof marks on the trunk and spoiler. LOL
