rant on ///// it wasn't headline news anywhere. WTF?
so, did you hear about the 22 navy seals that got killed in Afghanistan over the weekend? I did not hear about it until the guy that won the Nascar race said, "I ain't nobody. I just drive race cars. The real heroes are the guys who died in Afghanistan yesterday".
so, I thought, "wtf is he talking about" and I went upstairs and googled it. well, well well it doesn't really come up anywhere except Fox News and it's not the headline story. our government says it was a crash. the Taliban says they shot it down.
story goes like this: army rangers were in a fire fight with Taliban, they radio for help, somebody loads up 22 navy seals and 16 other people on a Chinook helicopter (which goes about 18mph) and flies them over to help real slow like in front of the Taliban and they shoot it down with a freaking RPG. (or it crashed, coincidentally right where the fire fight was --- BS!).
wifey and I just got done watching that HBO mini-series, The Pacific and I'm no damn military strategist, but before you fly a slow helicopter in front of the enemy with back-up aboard, don't you lay down some cover fire??? they had mortars 70 years ago they could hone in with a compass and a protractor. For Christ's sake, we could have probably read off some coordinates on a GPS and sent a rocket from a battleship in the Red Sea 700 miles away and took them out. weren't they showing us video from the Gulf War (1991 - 20 years ago) where we were launching scud missiles 500-1000 miles and hitting intended targets in a 40x40 concrete building???
what am I missing here?

I'm reffering to the nuke statements, which you just may agree with. BTW, how are they fighting for my freedom? Seal the borders, and be done with it. A republican failed to shut down the borders on 9/11...

hmmm... wasn't trying to take it down this road. even though, I don't disagree with nuking everybody west of the international date line, I was more upset with the "typical" BS where our government and military leaders use political correctness to fight a war. I don't think any of our troops should be there. WWI, WWII, the first Gulf War... somebody f'd with us, we got in, kicked asses, got out. that's the way to fight war. war sucks. war is not good. period. BUT, if you have to fight one, do it right. This is like Viet Nam all over again. We're going on 8 1/2 years now.
The point is, 22 of our most elite soldiers were killed because we didn't want to blow the top off that mountainside because there might have been one citizen there. OK, fine, I can accept that, but REALLY? I agree with not blowing up the towns and nuking the whole damn country, but do you really think there's a whole village of women and children holed up with the Taliban in some caves fighting some Army Rangers? WTF?

Will be a very sad, and long time before you see any soldiers out of Iraq/Afghanistan, ect. All of your votes don't matter, whether you vote or not, "they" behind the scenes control it all, and to be completely honest it is extremely fVcking sad to see how people don't understand what's really going on. You aren't too busy to look a little deeper into things than the mainstream media. Morgans, Rotheschilds, ect all have that all taken care of. You hear what they want you to, but did you hear about this crash all that much? No. Exactly.
I give every single man and woman fighting for this country a huge deal of respect, you have a lot of balls to do something like that. But, in all honesty, your really apart of something that is very sickening and inhumane.
You can't control the Elite, nothing you say or do is going to fix ANYTHING of what's going on, this is YEARS UPON YEARS in the making. Knights of the Templar, Masons, all the Round Table groups, Masons, Illuminati. It's no bullsh!t.
Sorry for going off topic, but end rant/.

So we should've smiled and said thanks after we were attacked? Our military action in Afghanistan was and is about protecting our own ass against those who DID and would have continued to attack us.
If I walk up to you and throw a left hook to your jaw, do you just look at me or do you defend yourself?
I can understand the arguments against our military action in Iraq, but it's pretty damn clear cut why we're in Afghanistan.

There's a big difference between WWII and all the wars that came after, including Afghanistan & Iraq. Japan and Germany would have ruled the world had they won and changed the American way of life. There was never any chance of that happening in any of the subsequent wars. Our freedoms have never been in danger since WWII from any outside force, therefore none of these wars are about protecting our freedom.
I think the biggest lie that has been sold to the American people is that "they hate and attack us because we are free", I mean really, does anyone believe that ? They hate and attack us because we have been meddling in their countries for decades. They don't like it, just as we wouldn't like it.
Before you start calling people tin hat wearers, remember, Kennedy & Eisenhower warned of a growing power that isn't loyal to the principles of this country, but has the full weight and power of corporations and the military at its disposal. That was 50 years ago. The warnings were not heeded, now our wealth and military are being used to do things that are not in our best interest.
Why are we still in Afghanistan 10 years later ? The only reason to go in was to eradicate the camps that were training militants and capture OBL. Those camps have long ago been destroyed, AlQuaida is gone, and OBL is dead. There are no other connections to 911 left in Afghanistan. We are now fighting the Afghan people who don't want to have a foreign military power in their country. There will never be a military resolution to this war.
Iraq had nada, nil, nothing, zero to do with 911. Bush used the need for retribution for 911 to lie us into that war. Does anyone remember the Colin Powell speech about weapons of mass destruction ? The diagrams and illustrations and phrases like "It is certain", "there is no doubt", "not if, but when they attack" ? All premeditated lies. Does anyone remember that when the Bush administration couldn't get the intelligence community to verify their claims they just opened up their own investigative office to give their stamp of approval to anything and everything that would give justification to attack Iraq ?
Exactly the type of thing Kennedy and Eisenhower were warning us about.

Are you serious? Like honest to God are you serious? We literally JUST killed Bin Laden a few months ago, you are saying that as if we killed him 5 years ago??? and newsflash: there are still terrorists and terrorist groups in Afghanistan. Just cause we killed Bin Laden doesn't mean its over and all the terrorists are just going to never ever do anything again. I agree that phrases like "It is certain" etc. were wrong to say, but I don't believe that they lied about the fact that they intially *Thought* there were WMD over there. I believe they seriously thought at one point that there might have been, so I absolutely agree with us going to Iraq INITALLY (because think about if they actually found some! you sure would be glad we went wouldnt you??) , but now we need to just gtfo of there

Afghanistan is also known as "The Graveyard of Empires".
The British tried to occupy them - search "Slaughter in the Mountain Passes", only one British Army Surgeon out of approximately 16,000 made it out alive during a retreat.
We all know how it financially helped uproot the Soviet Empire as well.
Our 'in' with the Afghan people seems to be to let them grow opium:
U.S. Soldiers Grow Opium/Heroin Poppy in Afganistan - Fox News - YouTube
The Taliban burnt all the opium fields:
http://opioids.com/afghanistan/index.html
I have an issue with losing troops there, especially when you cite things like this:
"In the aftermath of bin Laden’s death and apparently with the benefit of new intelligence gained in the raid on his compound, the U.S. has determined that eliminating “somewhere around 10 to 20 key leaders†of al-Qaida would cripple the network, Panetta said. Those leaders are in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and North Africa, he said."
Whole article here:
http://www.france24.com/en/20110710-us-defence-secretary-first-afghanistan-visit-al-qaeda
I would not question taking out Al-Queda, but I would question why we are still in Afghanistan when all the leaders, as cited from Leon Panetta, and not even there anymore. If they are smart enough to pull off 911, you can bet they are smart enough to get out of dodge when 100,000 troops are hunting them.
The Afghan people have been fighting occupation for centuries. Look at their history. The copter could have been brought down from an various insurgent group, not necessarily Al-Queda or the Taliban. Of course the Taliban will take credit, but they would take credit for the Kennedy assassination if you let them.
Looks like we got the guy who shot it down today:

Don't put words in my mouth. I never said I thought 911 was justified and you're an ass for assuming I do.
What should we have done after 911 ?
Gone to Afghanistan, closed down the training camps, found OBL, and killed any AlQuaida we found, then we should have left behind a small force to be sure none of the above returned.
Second, we should have gone into SaudiArabia (where most of the hijackers were from) and found all the financial backers of militant Islamists, and told the Saudi government that they better wise up and end the anti western BS.
Third, there should have been a serious investigation about why numerous investigations were shut down pre 911 when they got anywhere near the cells that were involved. I don't have time to find links, but, since many of you will think this is BS, search John Oneal FBI, search AbleDanger Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, there are others I can't think of at the moment.
I would have done a serious investigation about how hijackers who were already on terror watch lists were able to get visas to enter the U.S. http://deadlinelive.info/2011/02/08/j-michael-springmann-911-whistle-blower-us-state-dept-knowingly-gave-visas-to-terrorists/
I would have done other things like bolster intelligence to find any future threats, but what I would not have done is misdirect our military to Iraq, I would not have passed the Patriot Act, I would not have scooped up thousands of mideastern people without charges and warehoused them for years only to end up releasing the vast majority of them because there was no reason to hold them in the first place.
The list goes on.

Row the world and home again, that's the sailors way!
There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing
Is it raining, is it snowing, is a hurricane a blowing
Mah! Not a speck of light is showing
For the danger must be growing
Are the fires of hell a glowing
Is the grisly reaper mowing
Yes! The danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing!

that's just wrong, dude. he was probably a kid and didn't have many options. he chose to join the military and do what was right for his country (in his 18 year old mind). he didn't set the f*cking foreign policy. now, 40 years later, you're going to mock him for serving YOUR country. my old man was in Viet Nam, also. he joined when he was 17 and didn't have many options, so as opposed to living a life of crime or working at McDonalds he decided to fight communist aggression in southeast Asia. that's what the navy recruiter told him.
Fine, you don't agree with America's foreign policy, you don't agree with war in general, whatevs bltch.
You're lower than the people with the bumper sticker that says, "I SUPPORT THE TROOPS, NOT THE CAUSE".
You don't even support the troops!!!
Lou SR is right.... you are a funking a$$hole.
