I know the instrument clusters are different, but are the dash covers the same ? I know the clusters are different, but didn't know if there were any other differences that would make a 92 be able to work / not work in an 87 ?

you can make it work but it is different, the fuse panel is the biggest difference. i think the pattern on the heater controls bolt in is different too.

and you have to use the 87 cluster surround too if you want your check engine light and other indicators. use the 92s fuse block bracket and move it under the dash like it is in the 92

I thought it was different because the first thing I looked at was the fuse panel cover. Figured I'd throw it out here to see before I removed the 87 dash - had a bad feeling when I saw the fuse panel cover was different. Thanks for the info.

Ive done it, dont be scared haha

theres no major differences, just skin the dash plastic off. dont take out the metal dash support behind it. move the fuse panel, its very easy all the wires reach to its new location. use all the 87 column trim

What he said. Move the fuse panel it's not to bad at all and retain your trim it will fill the gap. I've done it as well. Also, like he said just the skin outer part of dash do not use the framework. It's no biggie.:goodidea:
