I like things clean and neat even on the underside of my toys! So I've got the '88 T-bird Sport on the rack for some upgrades. While it's up I'm going to drop the gas tank, rear, control arms and other parts to do some spiffing up.
Turns out I ended up scraping off lots of factory undercoat and more scale than I would have like to see. It's not bad under there, just not what I like. On truck frames I've just used a parts store rust inhibitor Permatex and another brand), coated that with epoxy primer then painted black and so far that seems to be working well. But this time I'd like to try something else.
What are you guys using for this type of work. I know POR15 is popular but I've never used it....is it a one step process or does it get painted over?
Not looking to make a show car....just something that is nice and tidy underneath. It won't ever see snow and probably very little rain and is always garage kept...like the rest of my toys.
