I had started this on s197 but i figured i would do it locally as well. Im just copy and pasting it from there for right now before i get alot more stuff.
Hey guys i figured i would do a thread on all my new parts ill be getting over the winter trying to get my car ready for the summer. My car only has 390 miles on it right now so i don't want to change a lot until i get experience with it in stock form. Saturday ill be getting some stock dyno numbers on a mustang dyno that is known to be a heartbreaker but i want to document beginning to ending numbers since this is my first car ill be starting from scratch on and actually putting down some good hp by the summer.
Goals before winter comes: Change the stock appearance. Window tint, Saleen Grille , C/S front valance with fogs, FRPP k springs 1' inch lower, Magnaflow muffler delete axle backs, shorty antenna, adjustable panhard bar, Koni Strut setup, and either black Sve drifts or Rtr's. I would really like to see a grabber blue with the silver rtrs but i cant seem to find any online.
Goals for the Beginning/middle of summer: Lethal o/r hpipe, Whipple 624 kit Tuned locally/remotely by Jon Lund, Some stickys, and suspension odds and ends.
Bone stock pic for beginning reference hopefully followed by dyno numbers tomorrow:http://i54.tinypic.com/5l3tp5.jpg
Forgive the pic it was raining last night when i took it ;(

The axle backs looking sexy getting ready to go on. These are at least 10 lbs lighter than stock:

This is how people that don't have lifts install axle backs:

Well i went to dyno day at www.Jsdyno.com and came back with some low numbers. They have an awd mustang dyno thats known to be a heartbreaker. They had to dyno my car in third due to not being able to lock out 4th gear and they didn't have time to try to get a 4th gear pull since there was 15 cars up after me. Car put down 306hp/293tq going to 7k in third gear. In 4th gear i would hope it would pick up another 20 or so hp. Anyway those are just base numbers so after my other mods are added i can go back and see how much of an improvement i have. .

Also got my new license plate frame in to replace the apple ford until i can actually get a Pa plate:

So far in owning the car for 1 week this is all i have done. I have a lot more parts coming so stay posted :)

No i didn't take a before. When i leave work ill get one on the way home of me in car driving. The sound reminds me of an old school muscle car driving down the road. It has a little drone but when the car is in 6th at like 60mph you can't even notice it. It will only get louder once i get the o/r hpipe

Well the video i took coming back sucked. Ill get one tomorrow hopefully. Ya there is an awd dyno right off the parkway in verona,pa. its about a 10 minute drive from pittsburgh or ten minutes from monroeville. My C/S front valance with fogs comes in tomorrow so ill have some pics of that . Hopefully i won't be lazy and ill get it installed. Also today i spent some more $ and ordered a few things from Late Model Restoration. Camber bolts, panhard bar, lowering springs, black 5.0 badges, black lugs, and 4 19x9.5 Black Sve Drifts. Ill be looking for 2 nice 255/35/19's for the front and 2 285/35/19 for the backs if anyone can point me in the right direction as to which tires to get.

BigMack2012Gt
10-26-2011, 12:12 AM
haha hopefully. Only place that sells it for the auto is lethal and they want a lot for it. I can get a 624kit for a manual for $5800+$500install+$500 remote dyno tune so im trying to find a way to make that work. The auto kit comes with a base tune and is like $7200+$500+$500 remote dyno tune. I'm hoping the only difference is the base tune.

If either of you whippled guys ( BigMack - I know you're not whippled YET.. ) are ever in the Moon Twp area I'll treat you to lunch for a ride even as a passenger!! Those 5.0s are awesome out of the box...I can only imagine them with 200 more horses... I've been reading/dreaming of a boosted 5.0 since the "Coyote vs Condor" article in 5.0 magazine a few months ago... It is amazing how well those motors respond to boost!

Ford does not have a calibration for the auto, that is why.

ya i'm out that way every so often as i do some work in Bolivar,Pa. Should be about 10 minutes away from you.
Anyway springs and panhard bar are going on tomorrow. I got the 1' inch springs since they were on sale for $129 and if its not enough drop ill sell them and get the 1.5's. Lmr accidently shipped me an extra set of springs instead of my assorted box of goodies like tpms sensors, black spline lug nuts, black 5.0 badges, and camber bolts but i have already got a tracking number on those and the springs are being sent back to them. I'm glad they work so fast. There customer service is awesome. More pictures will come tomorrow

Ok well a few updates. I wanted to get a baseline dyno of my car in fourth and since i could only get third when i went to dyno day at jsdyno i went to the dyno day at fjperformance located in delmont,pa. Had a decent turnout with some sick cars. Car stock did 367hp and 336tq. Only mod is magnaflow muffler delete. Thats a big difference from dynoing it in third on the mustang dyno.I am picking up a jlt intake this week and ordering an sct from lethal performance. There was a 5.0 at the dyno day with Jon lunds cam tune and it put down 412hp with just intake, kooks catted headers, and lunds tune. It sounds so good with the cam tune. I want!

I've finally decided on what blower i'm getting for the car and have been slowly getting the pieces i need for it to run correctly. The blower i have chosen is the Paxton Novi 2200. I was all about a postive displacement blower but they are like 7k for the same power as the centri which is much cheaper and the centri has a lot more potential than the pd blower does. I know the pd blowers have instant power where as the centri's don't. The paxton is a bigger unit than the vortech and has the capability of going to 1000hp. Jpc has there car over 850rwhp right now and runs lower 9's with it. I'm going to keep the stock pulley it comes with but add a jlt intake which gives an extra 1 to 1.5 lbs of boost which with my mods should put me around 550-620whp. My goal is tens. I don't care about high or low but just to hit tens and daily drive. The block will be at its limits around those numbers. If the engine blows i would get an aluminator and shoot for 800rwhp. So here is the part list with cost
Jlt intake: $150
Paxton blower: $3850 - ordered should be two weeks before i have it
aerforce gauge: $220 -ordered
1 step colder plugs: $90 -have them
sct xcal 3: $370 -have it
47lb injectors: $250 - have them
o/r hpipe: $300
Total cost: $5230
+ kb bap used $??
+ install and Jon lund tune +$??
Which is over 2k cheaper than buying a pd kit from the known websites/companys and if i take the gauge and hpipe out its an extra $500 off since those kits don't come with it either.

maybe i'm the crazy one, but did you really spend $90 on spark plugs??? I know people have their favorites, but in every vehicle i've ever owned, NGK plugs have performed flawlessly, including my TT TransAm... and they're $2 a plug...
On another note, are you sure all you want is 47# injectors? If you ever want to go bigger, they'll most certainly need replaced... and when i bought injectors, to go with larger ones wasn't much more expensive...
Finally - good luck! :D

Haha ya i did spend that. The brisk plugs i liked were $10 each, the ngks came to $79 and the ford racing motorcraft were $89 and when i read about people having problems with the aftermarket spark plugs and switching to the frpp ones i just got them the first time instead of playing around. Trust me a couple people called me crazy for that but i don't wan't to have to switch them later. As for the small injectors lund said i would be good with those up to 9lbs of boost with a bap and they are really easy to dial in. I was going to go with 60lb injectors but apparently 60 and 80lb injectors suck in these cars. Evo has a set of flow matched 75lbs but they are $550 and if i end up going to an aluminator engine i will pick up a set of those.

Figured i would update this thread as over the next few months i'll be adding more parts. Right now my tune is pretty close to what i want timing wise i would like a little less fuel and i just have to send Lund a current log and he will get rid of my 10.8 wot a/f and make me around 11.8.
The mods i plan on doing over the next few months are as follows:
3.55 gears (upgrade from my stock 3.15's)
Dynatech or Dss 1 piece aluminum Driveshaft
Stainless works or Kooks headers
M/T 305/35/19's to help me hook :)
Also i might go down a pulley size to help with my lack of torque
I just received the gears and its not time for my first oil change in the car
Amsoil ss 10w30 (upgrade from the mixed motorcraft 5w20) and some 75w140 gear oil:

I had a little curb rash from me not paying attention:

Quick fix you cant tell from a distance but if your right on top of it you can see the different color of paint:

Go with the Stainless Works headers.
I just installed the Dynatech shaft and it's a great piece.

Do you gain much with the SW headers ( or any other brand )? Is it more of a sound preference, or is there actually a performance gain?

I heard SW had good gains and they just came down in price. I also heard the dynatech headers are pretty good.

I've seen and been told that there has been gains of close to 30 hp's with the SW headers Ron.
Mack will probably pickup a bit more, due to having boost. But the coyote doesn't really gain a ton with headers NA, due to the fact they come stock with a shorty/mid header.

Ya I would hope for at least another 20hp with the Sw headers. I can get the catless ones shipped to me brand new for 1180 from Beefcake racing. I just want to hit my goal of 600whp and i will be happy. Its just a number but i want it :)

Beefcake's car is something else. He's also running a Paxton, right?
$1180 for headers - YIKES!! I guess that's what they call the "new car tax" ?

You get headers and a mid pipe for that price. Thats actually cheap compared to most of the other setups. They want at least $1400 for american racing.
Ya Beefcake is running the Vortech sl trim which i believe is the same as the paxton 2200 head flow wise @1450cfm setup at 21psi and is just over 1000rwhp. Only difference between his setup and mine is he is using the 8 rib belt system and im on the 6 rib. When i blow this motor and i get my aluminator i will be going with an 8 rib setup going for only around 850 daily driven.
PaxtonShelby
07-29-2012, 10:37 PM
I guess that's not so bad considering you get the mid-pipe as well.
Yikes - already planning on blowing this motor??? I guess 850 is a nice round number for a dd...:woot2:
Are you still running the stock clutch? If so, how is it hanging in there? Do you think you're going to need a twin-disc setup for this power level? I know you'll need it on your "next" motor.

I believe Macks car is an auto Ron.

Ya my car is the auto its been proven to around high 800ish and above that i would need to upgrade to the 6R80 exedy stage 2 + kit. My car does a good bit of top end pulls to 140+ sometimes 160+ and sees 7500rpm fairly often. At least twice a day to be exact. I would probably be happy where my car is at power wise if it wasn't so heavy. So my car needs to go on a diet and so do i :)

Well a little update here! I had put the car up for sale due to help with the cost of purchasing another house but the other buyer ended up getting it. So to make myself happy i ordered some stainless works headers for the car and got a more aggressive tune from Jon Lund. I can't wait for the snow to melt to try this tune out!
Heres one of the last pictures i took of it.

Ya it was most likely me. I wanted to take it out and get a couple pulls on it before i was going to put it away but then i noticed i was having some cooling problems. Low on coolant ftl haha. Paxton/vortech coolant reservior are garbage and leak. I left the car outside the other day because i was going to pick some coolant up in the morning and then this happened haha.

Mack, if you don't mind me asking, how much and where'd you get the headers from? SW are the headers i want for my car to go with the rest of my SW exhaust already on my car. You can pm me if you want.

PaxtonShelby i got my Paxton kit from beefcakeracing. If you call him or message him online he will give you the cheapest price possible. I paid 3950 for my paxton tuner kit from him +tuner, injectors, tune, etc but he has a beefcake special that comes with everything you would need which he didn't have when i bought my kit. Paxton tuner kit, 1000cc injectors(which are like $900 but you get them for so cheap), sct tuner, vortech programable bap, and a Jon lund custom startup + remote tune. His kit is good for 9's if you were interested in that. I believe that Wolfpack does tuning with him so he would be able to help you out with the remote part. His name is Terry (beefcake) Reeves and his business cell phone number is 513-478-1965. Hands down you will not beat his price. Jpc was the second best price i could find. I bought 75lb injectors that i regret now because i want to switch to e-85 and i can't because they aren't big enough.
I actually just bought those headers from a member of s197 for only $800. He put them on his car. Had them on there for like 50 miles and got a raise so he sold his car and bought a 2013 boss. The headers dont mate with the boss midpipe so it worked in my favor. If you were interested in getting those headers right now beefcake is also a distributor for them and he has the non catted ones for like 1150 shipped i think.

Yeah John, they do quality stuff. The SW exhaust on my car is top notch stuff and the sound is incredible. Of all the exhaust clips on youtube for the 11's and up the SW i think sounds the best.:)

I'm glad i snagged these up haha. I have some hushpower mufflers lined up to replace the gt500 mufflers as they are a restriction at this point. I also got my new lund tune in the car so i'm excited for a nice day to try it out and get some logs.
