Fox Mustang seat differences (vert)

I picked up a set of Fox leather seats from a buddy. These are earlier seats (I think 87-89) The intent is / was to recover these for use in the 93 convertible. I know the 93 gray interior color is different than the earlier grays (no issue to me).

What is the difference between a hatchback sport seat and a convertible sport seat of similar years? I know the little clip for the seat belt, but is that it??

And there are holes where it might of had the seat things, but I thought they was higher on the vert??

So any clue what these seats really are? What i'm hoping to be able to do is order a convertible upholstry set (front and rear) and have everything match.

I had both sets of seats I dont believe there is any differences between vert and sport seats other than the seat belt guide you pointed out.

Unless the vert has some extra part on the seat frame in there to bolt to.

the older seats (ones you have) have the leg rest, larger head rests and the seat back is shaped differently than the newer ones so you will have to order the skins for the older car

and the reason you though the seat belt clips are higher is because they bolt underneath the head rest in the newer seats instead of up the side

Thanks! That's what I was hoping to do, order a 87 ish vert skin set, do these seats and the LX rear from the vert and everything would match ... Just never saw a set of 87 vert sport seats to know if anything else was different (or if what I have might even be out of a vert)

Thanks for the links, you posted that when I was replying. I knew the 93 was under the headrest (what I have), I was missing how the older ones where.

Do you know if the GT hatch cars had the seatbelt clips? If not, that would likely mean these are vert seats.

Nope they did not have them only verts

The reclining mechanism it different for the verts, they have a limiter that prevents them from reclining too much and breaking the interior quarter trim panels. Also, the 83 - 89 seat backs are 2" taller than the 90 - 93 style seats. What color are you going to re upholster them?

Thanks Lou, I just tried the recliners and they only go back so far so they are 87-89 vert seats (large headrests). As far as color, lol ... Gray. I know the 93 is opal but whatever the 87-89 color is will work for me. I actually like that Mach 1 kit you guys sell, but don't think black would look right.

also besides what Lou said the large headrests were used in 1987-1988 mustangs being phased out in 1989 on the sport seats for the smaller headrests. The larger headrests like yours also articulate forward and back if you grab them you can manipulate them as the smaller headrests did not. The funny thing was in 1994 that feature was added back to the seats. Also, the slide out leg bolster like on your seat was also phased out on the later 1992-1993 sport seat as well. Keep this in mind when you are ordering your upholstery kit.

The mach 1 replica seats will not disappoint!
You can order in the seats in custom colors, I got a silver stripe insert instead of red.

I might be full of it but I think they did away with the leg bolster for power seats, the switch goes on the front of the seat and all the frames had the provision for the switch bracket.

I love the Mach 1 upholstery, and the red stripe would even be fine (red car). I'm just not sure how the black would pull off with the rest of the interior gray (opal). Ultimately, she can decide as its her car, I just get a veto for "that's not going to look right".

Strange, but LMM, seem to only show the fronts only for the 90+ stuff as a convertible ... might need ot call Lou as I'm sure it's available as a kit...
