Here's the dealio.......got an old tower that doesn't work but the hard drive has a lot of pics and video that I need...was told the mother board must be toast. Swapped the HD into another tower that someone gave me to try....still got nothing....then they tell me that maybe that tower didn't work.

So....I have my HD out and need to extract everything from it and onto a new external HD that I have. Can anyone give me a hand?? Geek Squad can do it, but I'm trying to save a few bucks.

I don't have a desktop anymore, or i'd gladly do it for you.... this is as simple as it gets, so surely someone can do this for you....

If no one on here can help, i'd check out a local computer shop in your area - just some owner operated, small joint... they'd probably do it for you for a couple bucks at most...

I know of one in Shelocta that i worked for the summer after i graduated high school... but i'm sure Shelocta is still quite a bit farther from Armaugh than Johnstown would be, so i'd have to believe there's something there!

I got through Shelocta several times a week....heck, I'll be through there in about an hour. Got a name for me to check out?

Sorry, i didn't get to check back on this until now....

The shop is called D.R. Gentile Computing... if you're on 422 on the way FROM indiana TO Kittanning, it will be on the right-hand side... If memory serves me right, there's a hair shop next door, as well as a guy that sells golf carts in the same parking lot... Shelocta isn't big, so it shouldn't be hard to find....

If you want, you can tell him that Brent Bish sent you there... he should treat you right either way... can't guarantee he even remembers me... i worked for him for like 2 years, but that was 7 or 8 years ago...

I'll be right back by there on Tuesday. Thanks!

My cousin ran the little garage across from there (right by the creek) about the same time you worked at the computer shop. It was called Dotts Performance.......big bowtie guy but could make anything fast. Used to help him a lot on Fridays. Sadly he passed at a young age and hence the garage closed.

Oddly enough I'm having this same problem.

When I turn my CPU on with everything intact, I get a repeated beeping, which I researched and from what I gathered, I have a bad stick of ram. So I figured I'd just take one or the other out and got the same beeping. You get any type of beeping error sounds?

The beeping codes depends on the type of computer... What brand is it?

Let me know how it goes...

The beeping above could mean a bunch of different things.... But, its been 7 or 8 years since I got out of the computer repair/building/maintenance buisness... so i'm not very familiar with it anymore

It's an HP. It's old, but I have a 500 GB hard drive in it that has many pictures, videos, music, ect. that I need. The apparent beeping meant the ram was bad, didnt try a new stick yet, but I don't see how they could be both fried, but then again anythings possible.

Bish.......dropped it off today. He said $25....sweet!!

Mentioned your name after he knew what was going on and stated a price. He remembers you well and said you were a real straight arrow and a good guy. I kept my lips shut but wondered if we were talking about the same guy......after all, you do own a GM! ;)
