Hey, guys.
I drive the Fairmont. Some of you may have seen it autocrossing or on the prowl.
Here's the writeup on my old combo. I'm working on another one so that I can take the original off the road to do some much needed work. I've had it for 20 years, so I figure that I owe it that much.
The full description of the car is as follows:
79 Ford Fairmont 2-door Sedan, 1 of 54 factory equipped with 302 and 4-speed OD.
Engine:
-93 Mustang 5.0 HO: blueprinted, deck milled .005" (just enough to make it flat and even on both sides).
-Pre '82 crank, balanced, with 93 pistons and rods.
-E7TE heads, minor exhaust port work, shaved .005" (once again, just enough to make them flat and even on both sides).
-Motorsport E303 cam (220-220@050" duration, .498"lift)
-Windage tray.
-Edelbrock Performer 289 intake, 575 Speed Demon carb.
-Crane HI-6 ignition with Crane electronic distributor.
-3-row copper/brass radiator, electric fan.
Transmission:
-93 Cobra T-5 5-speed
Chassis:
-8.8" ring and pinion with TORSEN T2-R differential.
-Global West rear lower control arms. Stock upper control arms with PST polygraphite bushings.
-Texas Turbo subframe connectors (for Mustang), weld in.
-Motorsport "sports" springs, front and rear. Lowers car approx 1", maybe more.
-Motorsport 15:1 high-effort steering rack, matching pump.
-Global West solid delrin rack bushings.
-Mustang 10-hole 15x7" wheels, P225/50-15 tires for autocross. Mustang 5-spoke "Pony" 16x7" wheels, 225/45-16 tires for street.
-Stock front lower control arms with Global West Del-A-Lum bushings.
-’91 Mustang GT front swaybar
-’86 Mustang GT rear swaybar.
Exhaust:
-Hooker Super Competition equal length shorty headers.
-Flow-Tech off-road H-pipe, 2.5".
-Custom merge behind H-pipe. Two 2-1/2" pipes into one 3" pipe.
-Flowmaster Series 50 Delta Flow; 3"
-Custom tailpipe; 3". Tailpipe exits under bumper, left side.
Interior:
-Corbeau EVO racing seat.
-Grant 13.5" steering wheel.
-Grant quick release.
Never use a Gatling gun in the house.
Later,
Mike.
