ok which are preferred? i know not to use a mechanical fuel psi gauge inside the car....but other than that id there anything wrong with say oil, water, tranny mechanical gauges inside? any reason one is better than the other?

you can say your better than the "joneses" with full electical. They may be just a tad faster reacting, but there is no problem with mechanical

I run mechanical oil psi and water temp inside the car. Mechanical are accurate.

Honestly, if you use good quality (Auto Meter, Stewart Warner) either is fine and very accurate.. I personally would go with electric mainly because of ease of installation and versatility..

Exactly what I was thinking :goodidea:

autometer is the only gauge id run.

how much harder is the install on a mechanical vs an electrical?

I always felt that mechanical were more accurate but electric are easier to install

how hard are we talking here? all the ones i find are mechanical.

i have to get these as my stock oil psi gauge screws up alot now..gave me a couple scares going to rodeheaver's.

not that hard, just gotta rout the lines so they don't touch anything, dont rub nothing, by no heat...

Also, doesnt NHRA have rules against some of the mechanical guages running "flammable" liquids inside the car?

so say i run all 3 electrical gauges. with my stock pos 75a alt....will it cause my alt to fail? i know the fox's charging system stock sucks. i dont know if these gauges be enough to cause a drain or not. :dunno:

Should NOT drain. Its only a sensor and a light to run them. Very little drain.

jared i would go w/ electrical b/c of the ease and plus if that line for the mech breaks or fails for any reason then you have fluid all over the inside of your car and i wouldnt worry about drain they will take maybe 1amp total power if that and if you need help putting them in give me a call i did my guages in about 1 1/2 hrs

pm me a number. id like to get them in before the 14th.

i found a deal on new electrical water and oil. now just needing tranny temp...or i may go air/fuel :dunno:

air/fuel you gotta splice into your 02 sensors wires

you are planning on doing some engine mods right? if not id say gauges are a waste if leaving it stock.

of course engine mods!

BUT i need gauges right now....my stock oil psi gauge is flaking out on me...i had to stop a few times on way to/from tim's shop cause the gauge was bouncing. then twice it bottomed out on me. i checked all possible cause i knew of. oil level is good and all..so we think its the gauge. :goodidea:

and the triple pillar is already mounted. :(

i have personally had to push cars off of the starting line do to bad electric gauges failing , only because we thought the oil pump failed but to find that it was the gauge, so i say mechanical all of the way...

the only rule is for the fuel pressure guage, you simply need and isolator... and of course the nitrous gauges...unless it is bottle mount.

If you aren't going to run any power adders then I wouldn't go with the A/F ratio gauge. N/A just put in on the dyno and set the fuel pressure where the car makes the most power between 12.8 and 13.2 A/F. If you are putting a converter in your AOD I would put a tranny temp gauge in it and get a good tranny cooler.

im trying to find a tranny gauge.
