How about a set of 351W heads? We can probably get these to your front door for $300!:pinkthumb:
Pictures are on the link.

you can find a set of non p gt40 heads on 1996-97 1/2 Explorer. The easiest way to tell just at a glance if they are the non p heads is look for a external egr valve. If the egr has a tub running down to the header then it will have cast iron gt40 4 bar heads. I try to scoop up as many as I find in the local U-Pull-It yards here. If I can get a set would you want them for 250.00... they will need cleaned. and I would change out the springs with a set from the E7 heads if I where you.

The heads on a 351W motor will be a set of E7TE heads. Which are the same heads on the 5.0. H.O. in the Mustang. The E7TE heads are good with a basic porting job, but unless your doing it yourself. Your money would be better spent on a set of Pro Comp Alum heads off E-bay for about $700.00. Same holds true with the GT-40 or GT-40P heads.
Now if you are going to just bolt a set of heads on with out any work. Then the GT-40 are the better way to go. The GT-40P heads are almost the same thing as the non P heads. The difference id the angle of the spark plugs. You will need to change your headers to use P heads. MAC makes a set that clears the plugs, but you will pony up about 400.00 for them. Now if you dont mind doing alittle bit of modding. You can take a set of BBK 1 5/8s shorty headers and a 9/16 socket and the BFH. A few taps to a couple of the tubes will clear the plugs with 90 degree boots.
Another word of advise. If you use the GT-40P heads. Change the valve springs out with the ones from a set of E7TE heads. The P spring are prone to float around 4500 rpm on a E303 cam.

The 1969/1970 351W heads are not E7TEs. The valves are larger that the E7TE heads and equivilant with the GT40 heads.
D00E Specs:
60cc Chambers
1.84" Intake Valves
1.54" Exhaust Valves
Port Size: 1.94"x1.76" Intake
1.24"x1.00" Exhaust
My heads are $250, ready to bolt on and you can use them with a stock set up headers unlike the GT40Ps. They are a good deal for someone on a budget.

I was talking about the Late Model 351W heads. All of the Pre-80's heads are getting harder to find. Atleast around here in the wood of PA. If you want to look for and use pre-emission type heads here is a website with a list of all kinds of heads and casting number. http://mustangtek.com/heads/Heads.html
