I would recommend the shop. Super nice guys and very resonable prices. Looking at having him put a cam in the car. Really need to get those axles from you.

If i had a newer Camaro and wanted someone around here to work on it it would definitely be him. I know he has done a few sc'ed camaros. When i was up there the one time he had a silver one he was installing a tvs on, His rediculous new Camaro, and a black one having some work done to it. All 2010+. I really like how the dyno room is apart from the garage. makes it nicer for Dyno days imo. Congrats on the numbers!

I'm looking to have him cam my car and retune it before long. there were 4 or 5 grand nationals there when i pulled in, thought i had died and gone to heaven. always wanted one. someday.

I'm looking at the texas speed 231 cam. Seems most folks are getting near 500ish with it and the idle sounds wicked

mine is a 232/240 650/650 and sounds wicked awesome, tons of lope with no driveability issues.... and that's on an LS2... so you could probably go a little bigger without too much trouble

What the heck is 115+3 lsa?
scott5

Its an advance ground in which will bring torque in sooner. It also affects the intake centerline (ICL). For instance the cam is on a 115LSA +3* advance ground in so the ICL is 112. Advance also affects PTV. The more advance the closer PTV on the intake side but adds more room on the exhaust side.

Its alot more detailed than that, thats just a quick off the top of my head summary. I dont know alot about them, but from what I have been reading that seems like what it means.

ls3 heads are extremely impressive for an OEM head...

If its boost i would say 114.
its not a specific boost cam... but i was told that its boost friendly
I'm almost certain mine is a 112+2 ... i forgot to check last night, but i'm nearly certain ... my cam is 232/240 .650/.650 112+2
i love the sound - the power is great, and has a VERY broad power range... Power comes in pretty early for a cam that makes peak power at the 6600 rpm cutoff... not sure at what RPM it would max out, but i see no need to find out.. :) ...
i'll have to find the dyno sheet and post it for Cam's reference

D rod has a similar cam he has a pretty choppy idle but it seems to wind up fast I have no experience with the + degrees it's a pretty cool concept though building advance into the cam

yea, we have different everything.. his is an LS3, so he's got a few more cubes than i do... my car has stock LS2 heads, his has (obviously) LS3 heads - both flow great... also i have a FAST 92mm intake and throttle body... looks like we both have cai's

From what I've read, and dyno sheets I've seen on Camaro5 it doesn't seem the FAST intake improves the horsepower very much on the ls3's. At least not worth the $ in my opinion, LOL. Not seen much improvement in head porting on the ls3's either, so after the cam I'm not sure where else to go with the car powerwise. Was thinking gears but seems they are very unreliable in the camaro once you go above 3.73's, and I'd want 3.90 or 4.10's
stevec5ws6
03-07-2012, 09:23 AM
Have 4:10's in my vette love them how are they unreliable?
Heads the porting needs a huge cam to show benefits. Shaving them for a bit more compression and a good valve job will add some pep though. But we are only talking 25 ish hp

there are lots of threads on camaro5 about gears crapping out very quickly in the 5th gens, especially richmond gears. even a couple shops i talked to wern't very confident about how long they will last. not sure if it's a camaro thing or what. i'm just going on what i'm seeing on the internet though because i'm not that familiar with this newer gm stuff.
