Possible vaccume leak? Mine came back on tonight, I disconnected the battery for about 30 seconds and I went off and is still off.

use a scan tool to pull the code. that will solve everything rather than guessing.

Agreed. Take it to advance auto, they will let you hook it up for free and look up what the code is.

None of the parts stores have scanners that read pre-OBD II cars. Didn't when I went anyway.

check the connection at your tb and your air intake hose. it might be sucking air right there and causing it to come on. if not that i would go with a vacuum leak

but when i put the new cobra intake on, i put 1 new o2 sensor on cuz the other was good and i put a new pcv on, but the light never came on and i put over 500 miles on my new setup....im thinkin 02 sensor but it doesnt run like it has a vacuum leak

Your car is OBDII. Foxes are OBDI. Unfortunately part stores don't pull codes for OBDI cars.

OP do you have a scanner? They are pretty easy to use once you figure out the flashing light thing.

Ah, older cars are OBDI.

Ford ODB-I scanners are only ~$20 last I checked- it's probably worth having around if you're doing a lot of work.

Erics89GT
05-27-2012, 12:32 PM

well i cleaned the iac sensor just now and well tht didnt help....light still comes on...i think its more o2 sensor cuz but i do know its dumping fuel cuz thats all you smell when drivin behind me....and if the MAF is dirty would it cause that

The MAF is the heart of these cars. If its dirty/bad it could cause anything. Taking it off and spraying it with some MAF cleaner is never a bad idea. You still have factory 19lb injectors correct?

I'm sure someone will correct me if im wrong but I always thought a blinking cel is a missfire in one or more cylinders. It makes sense too because it only seems to happen when you have the car under load, and not in neutral.

Ageeed. A bad O2 or somenthing like that would cause a steady CEL - not a blinking one.

could be the other 02 sensor that is the most common reason for check eng light on older cars , any chance its a vac line to egr or things in pass fender?

Troy,
wouldn't that be a steady CEL instead of one that comes and goes depending on the load?

Erics89GT
05-27-2012, 04:16 PM
it doesnt missfire cuz rpms climb steady on a hill in 4th

Most if not all OBD I cars don't set misfire codes. The car should store the code even if the light goes off. Get it scanned.

Thats what I was wondering.
