well guys i have an intermitant problem with my 95 gt every time i think i have a fix. it comes back in a week or less it has a crazy surge and backfire at 3000 rpms and the tac bounces every where i cant track the problem down any body have any ideas
btw i just put new plugs and wires and msd dizzy and coil in thinking it was an ignition issue and that didnt work also i put a new egr valve on and that didnt do the trick. its definatly not a cloged cat becuz i put off road pipes on to test that. im not sure what to do next i love the car i just want it to run right.

Does it only happen at 3k rpms? Aftermarket CAI?

change the ignition module yet?
It cant be the IAC it only controls idle if its happening at 3k.....when you say the tach bounces is it realistic, like the engine is just losing RPM or is it erratic?

Second that tfi problems are a pain. If not check the harness connections for corrosion.

bad ground?
Tach bouncing is PIP signal. Msd distributers are known for their issues in those cars. Pit a stocker back in and start from there. Tfi also. Try the EXACT one for your car. Also, as John said...ground.
