Putting a new aluminum rad in my 87 GT and was thinking of going with an electric fan setup. I've read articles about using a single fan from a Taurus or a dual fan setup from Contour, Cougar, or Mistique working (with some sort of workaround for the overflow. I'm curious as to what you guys have done and if anyone has some of this stuff (or other setup) laying around that they'd like to sell. Let me know!

I use the ramcharers fan, which is the same as a 01 dodge intrepid. Dual fan, works great with my blower.

Thanks venom! Are you saying you used a salvage Intrepid part or you ordered this new from somewhere? Where from if so? What did it set you back?

This look like it? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1375501
How do you mount it and what did you do for an overflow?

Found this one in a search. It includes a thermostat and everything you need (including brackets). Might be the way to go although clearance may be an issue on an S/C car...

Doesn't look too bad...looks sorta like a flex-a-lite knockoff. Definately looks tight for a supercharged setup. There are a millions ways to go, and I'm sure most will work out ok for ya.
Just for reference I used these to hold my fans in place;

Then just bought a cheapy plastic tank and tucked it inside my fender.

Thanks guys! I'll have to put something together soon. It's probably best to go electric while I'm replacing the rad! ;)

If you can fit them, the twin fan setup from a LS motor works fantastic! Moves more air than any other fan setup I have tried.

Is the fan from Summit too? Do you have any more details? Any idea how much he wants for it?

Resurrecting this thread as I ran into some problems the other day with my setup. I used the Hayden 3647 cotroller and when it was installed all was well. Well, after about a year and a lot of sitting due to a transmission rebuild, I got her back on the road. I drove it to work Monday (hot day) and the fans never kicked on on the way home. Temps reached around 230°! I jumped power directly to the fans and they fired right up. Even with the A/C switched on, nothing happened. Switched out the relay...no luck.
Once the car cooled off, I went through the troubleshooting recommended by Hayden. Shorting out the probe contacts were supposed to turn the system on but they didn't. All other tests checked out OK.
Summit offered me a replacement :goodidea: but I don't want to go through this again in another month or so (or worse...damage the motor). Have any of you had similar issues with this controller? I was thinking about just putting a toggle on it but I'd really rather not if I can use a controller...

No. Not at this time. It's the one part that works well. My issue is with the controller. Once that issue is resolved I should be back on the road. Thanks though...

I recently had the same problem with my Hayden. Sitting in Carlisle traffic, temps climb fast, no fans. I bought a new Hayden when I got home.

It's behind the driver's headlight. I'm not ready to go that route just yet. I may get the new Hayden that Summit will ship me but wire it along with an override circuit that's connected to a switch in the car.

Bummer! Did you wire yours to just the low fan setting or the high? Pretty sure I wired mine to the high and used the original 40Amp relay. Wonder if that's overloading the controller? I remember that you used a 75Amp relay on yours. Did you keep the 25Amp fuse?

Summit recommended this controller for my application. I may spend a few more bucks and try this out instead of the cheap Hayden again. Check it out: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/flx-33054/overview/
Anyone ever use this one?
