I have two, one in my 64 Galaxie and its fresh. One that is in my 93 Notch, its used. My fresh one went together and got syncromesh. The used one has been in the coupe and has a red fluid it in. Can I drain and put the syncromesh in or whats the deal?

No clue what fluid is in it for its used and I kept that fluid in there for the past 30,000 miles....

Let me know the best way to approach this.

Yes you can....The red fluid is just the standard atf fluid, same thats in the automatics. I drained my 3650 and put syncromesh in it. I must say that it made a great improvement!!! :awsome:

Ive run mobile one synthetic atf in my 3550 since new never had had problem or had to rebuild, but, its only been in the car since 1998, so maybe it isnt the right fluid...lol. Fyi many flawless 7000+rpm shifts with no grinding.
