Nothing crazy planned for the new car just yet, enjoying just driving it;) Had the windows tinted, picked up some new shoes and installed an Eibach Pro-Kit! I'm really happy with how everything has come out so far:jump:

NEVERMIND - picked up the info on FB. 2013 A6 with Recaros.
Thoughts on the seats???
Not an expert, but with looking at the wheels, seems to be the base model (which is the way I would go). IMHO, if it doesn't make it go - stop - or turn...its not needed. Track pack? Or just Brembos?.....curious. I have my sights set on a base Race Red, 6 spd manual, Track Pack and Recaros - MSRP $35,185....my company is a corporate partner - so I can get an x-plan pin.

Car is a 2013 base model with Recaro sport cloth bucket racing seats, A6, spoiler delete and all weather floor mats. I really like the Recaro's but don't expect them to last/look great for too long, just my opinion. If I could do it all over again, I would still order the Recaro's. You are more than welcome to stop by the shop and check them out for your self:goodidea:

Hopefully they last longer than the Recaro seats in Evo 8s (2003-2005), most of the ones I've seen are pretty worn out. They have probably improved since then though.

So after making a few stock hits on the new mt et street radials, I loaded a tune and made an initial hit. Right at the end of the pull the tire started to come apart, ultimately ripping my fender well liner out, denting the inner fender well, pulled the side skirt partially off and broke the mounting hardware, little bit of damage to the rear bumper cover and mud flap.:madashell:
It looks like I can repair the car without having to do any paint work and there will be no visible damage. I am relieved about that but still a shitty situation. The tires are new but the manufactured date stamp on them is the 45th week of 2010. I talked to the place I bought them from, the distributor they purchase them from and Mickey Thompson. The distributor and the manufacturer told me to go pound salt. No warranty on competition tires and they are not to be used on the dyno. These are merely excuses from them not to do anything about it and to be honest with you all, thats just how this industry works, like it or not. I have made thousands of hits on my dyno, many with drag radials, slicks etc. The no dyno excuse really cracked me up and the shop I purchased the tires from totally agrees and they are refunding my money on the tires. I still have to eat the rest but it was nice of them to work with me! Glad it happend on the dyno and not the street or even worse, the track. Brand new tires, I literally bolted them on while the car was on the dyno, unbelievable!!!

Not at all, just no good way for me to do an above ground setup and still have the exhaust going out the door with the way my shop is laid out. Issues on the dyno are extremely rare if you know what you are doing, thats what straps and wheel chocks are for! Nothing violent happened, just a helpless feeling when you hear stuff getting chewed up and cant do a thing about it besides apply the dyno brake and wait for everything to stop!!!

I forget what they said exactly, I was just rolling my eyes the entire time they were talking. I knew I was just wasting my time and got off the phone as quickly as possible! Tires will take on some heat on the dyno but nothing like from street driving or burnouts. Running the car on the dyno is far less stressfull on the tires than running it all out on the street or the track IMO.

Thats honestly how this industry works Adam, you have to be willing to pay to play and some times you just get burned! What amazes me is these multi million dollar corporations that can afford to do something to try and make things right usually don't, they just don't care. It's usually the small shop like mine surviving on reputation and word of mouth that end up making things right or eating most of the cost as we become the middle man between the customer and whoever else.
I work on hundreds of cars every year, I screw up sometimes, it's going to happen no matter how hard I try. But when I do make a mistake and I know I did, I always do whatever I can to make things right.
The flip side to this and is the side I see more often is the shady consumer. There are a lot of consumers out there that screw up or just have bad luck and try to get someone else to foot the bill for their problem or mistake. If Mickey Thompson replaced every tire that a consumer complained about or said was bad, they would be out of business. In my case, the stickers are literally still on the tires along with the very visible rubber tits! It's obvious this tire has seen no street duty and you would think that one look at the picture they would own up to a defective tire and at least toss me a new pair!
Wow that sucks. I have heard of the no slicks on dyno rule because they come apart but i didn't think that applied to dr's. I would guess as long as you air them up they would be fine. How many psi did you have in them?
Tires were at 30psi. I have heard about the no competition tire dyno use as well but again, I have made numerous dyno pulls using them without issue. I have talked to several other dyno operators I know and the general consensus is that it's just another out for the manufacturer in the event of an issue with their product.

i remember when i was having my headers installed on my 02 v6 i went with jba for quality and it ended up being a massive pain in the ass for mike because of needing to relocate the dipstick due to the spark arcing off of it and then when he tried moving it he kept snapping it trying to bend it into place. i felt really bad and he did what he could to make it right even after he put many hours into it. this is the entire reason why i will never take my mustang to a shop other than his to have work done to it. i always tell everyone i know about the place and how great of a business he runs.

Damn that sucks Mike! The sizes might be different but that is the same setup I have on my car. Weld RTS with MH fronts and MT ET Street rears. I haven't had very good luck with this setup.
When I first got them I took them all to get mounted and they only did one back because they couldn't do the fronts and they said one of the backs had a hole in it. JPC sent me a new rear.
Took the fronts to another shop who also couldn't mount them. Took the fronts and the new back to another shop and they ruined my front RTS then bought me a new one. Then they finally mounted the rest of the tires, but both left side ones have been slowly leaking since I put them on.
Now there is a huge gash in one of my front tires (still holds air) and one of my front wheels is bent again.:censored::censored::censored:

When I got my wheel and tire package there was a paper inside that said not to run my car on a dyno with these tires. I was also sent shank lugs for the front ones and if you have the 17's they use the stock lugs so all my front ones were held on with was the tips of the lugs.

Shut the shop down last week and took a much needed weeks vacation! Left Thursday with the car for Bowling Green, KY for the NMRA World Finals. Had a great time as usual at this event, car ran pretty good too! Best I could get out of the car staying in the throttle during testing and time trials was a 12.44 @ 110...1.952 60'. First round of eliminations I got out of it up top and still went a 12.41 @ 106! Not bad for a tune and tires car that weighs 3,850lbs with driver! Should have just stayed in it and got my 12.3X pass...LOL. This is pretty much as fast as this car is going to go without making further changes to it, I'm pretty happy with that considering the mods.

Yep, that was me. Got out of the shop earlier than expected and really wanted to hit prp at least once before I start modding the car. Only made 1 run, had no interest in staying another 2.5 hours just to do it again!

Hey Mike, Did you ever play around with the exhaust like you said you were going to do? I was wondering if you went with the Borlas...and if you got any more rumble out of it ?

Guess I'm done driving the car for the year. Trying to decide what to do with it over the winter. After putting 1K miles on it and making 3 trips to 3 different tracks, it's definitely staying an honest and fun street car. I really enjoy just driving the car so no drag parts! Besides, nothing has changed with PRP or QCR, both tracks still suck and it's my understanding that PRP is DONE. If I do any drag racing next year it will be with the NMRA, probably true street just to get out there and have some fun!
I really think this car could continue to be a ton of fun NA but obviously a power adder would be really fun! Any suggestion? Hopefully we have a quick winter!

Is that a legit Saleen 03 Cobra?
Isn't there a storage place right down the road from you?

YOU are asking US about power adders??
Are you going to upgrade the converter when you decide what power adder to go with?

I hear ya - just figured you'd have your mind made up already. No worries!
Can't wait to hear what your plans are.
Thought you asked about storing it for the winter. Must have misread.
