I am again kinda wanting an old muscle car. I am torn. Should I keep my Mach 1 or sell it to get a muscle car.
*+ for the Mach 1. OE parts are plentiful. 2. Plenty of mods to be done as $ allow. 3. Stops better and way safer in a crash
*- for the Mach 1 1. Emissions junk 2. If you close your eyes and spit you will probably hit a new edge car.
*+ for the muscle car 1. Rarer 2. Big block torque. 3. They ride, steer, and stop like crap, but for some reason I miss cars like that
*- for the muscle car 1. OE parts are getting scarce. The overseas stuff is largely garbage. You can't just walk into a junkyard anymore and get a roadrunner fender or 440 if you blow yours up. 2. Bad in an accident. You hear people saying "They don't make them like they used to". When it comes to accidents thank God they don't.
So post up your personal opinions and why if you want.

Old Muscle cars are nice to look at... thats all, I love to drive the shit out of my car and an older muscle car just can't stop and turn.

Safety obviously isn't your main concern or you would be driving something besides a mustang. You want looks and performance. Muscle cars were built for straight line acceleration, thats it. Brakes can be updated as well as suspension to outperform todays sportscars. Park a '69 Roadrunner next to Mach 1 at a car show to see which most people prefer. I actually can't believe you even asked the question which do people prefer. The big three already did the polls apparently...........

Get an older muscle car and pro tour it. It will out handle 90% of todays cars. Get more looks

Depends, I have each. 1997 GT, 2003 Cobra, and the 1968 Fairlane. All manual transmissions. The Fairlane gets the most attraction by other people no matter where you go. Smells like fuel when you drive and has about 2 foot of clutch pedal. All part of a mild modified old car. Looks great and sounds even better. Most people who go to car shows are there to see older cars that you do not see on a daily basis. That being said, would I choose the Cobra over the Fairlane? Yes without a question. Much more fun to drive and more reliable ( well before she got torn apart) lol. I guess the best case scenario would be as Scott said, Old car Pro-Tour.

Depending on what you sink into it, a nice vintage restomod / Pro-Touring car can easily do everything performance-wise that a newer car can. But expect to pay a fair chunk of change for a completed car or spend a bunch of your own time and $$ if you start with a stock-ish muscle car and build it up yourself.

I'd love to Pro Tour a muscle car and get the best of both worlds. Preferably a 70 Coronet #bigdreams

That's a hard decision! I'd say keep the Mach and then get a old muscle car too! lol

id say go for a muscle car and restomod it, alot easier to work on, no emissions and with it being rebuilt, the right drivetrain combo, and other needs, it could be driven daily if wanted to, plus muscle cars have a better personality then the newer cars...

There are a lot of new edge cars but not many new edge Mach1's. Every cruise and show ive been to this year I think Ive had the only New Edge Mach 1 there. I get a lot of compliments. Talked to a guy today for a half an hour. Old school muscle has the looks for sure. Newer cars including the New Edge Mach 1's perform better than their predecessors. I guess it all comes down to what you wanna look at when you open the garage door. That being said Id love to have a 67 or 68 fastback.

I recently sold my second GN, it was always my dream muscle car when I was in school(20 some years ago). I thought I would miss it but haven't yet. My point is, old school muscle is cool and fun but today's technology can't be beat.
