View Full Version : Riding places
Does anybody have any places to ride quads that aren't hours away from Pittsburgh? Woods is the best with some nice hill climbs. Not the field riding stuff.

Ya, my house and ride over the hill to mineral beach. I always liked South park dumps cause you can ride out to different places/hill climbs and the ride to them is a good time also.

Kevin is talking about Mines and Meadows..... i had my KX there once, but its pretty darn easy... even the hard trails were really easy.... its the place to take a group of people for sure... you CAN'T get lost, as all the trails are marked... and the trails are mostly wide open...
I think you can still ride out by Moon... i havent' been out there in about a year and a half... I always had a TON of fun riding out there.... if you PM me, i can probably get you in touch with a group of guys that might still ride out there - they're nice guys (Mark - u1narunit - introduced me to them)
Rob you and I went to Wellsville a long time ago... thats 20 mins from my house, but i know its a pretty good haul for you.....
Other than that, you gotta go into the country a little bit... i gotta believe there's some stuff not far from you in Washington County or out in the Cecil area, but its probably all private land, and you'll have to know the right people....

Mines and meadows is cool. It's a pay to ride place though.

I sold my quad as nobody rides anymore. Parking at JD's house is no longer either(I assume) as he has passed away.

Yeah, the mines and meadows I hear is pretty easy. We went to templeton a few weeks ago. That had some challenging stuff we liked. As far as Wellsville, that's what I'm talking about, but......the owner burned his house down and a few houses near by. The inbred hillbilly's burned all the campers up in the last year and the place is horrible now. You park there and your rig gets vandalized.

Oh yeah? Hmmmm. I think your neighbors would shit if I started my quad at your place. Hahahaha. We gotta talk about that. I'll text ya later on. Haha

I believe I turned a bunch of folks here on to Wellsville. You included I believe. I loved that place. Its a shame what has happened to it though now.

The park was always a nice fun local place to ride. Decent hill climbs and such. Would like to ride there again. I'm also open to a somewhat of a drive. Templeton was an hour for us. Not bad. I think it was called scrubgrass.

Rob, theres great riding by apollo, its 20 min from Monroeville, and Penn hills slags has great trails all around them. They have the crawshaw mud crawl there to honor Michael Crawshaw from penn hills pd. They get at least 200 riders each year, awesome place!

Penn Hills is good. I cut through the woods on my way to work sometimes on my bike. There are some pretty nasty hill climbs in the slags too. I used to take my Jeep to Wellsville. That was a blast. I heard they closed half of it down?

I love hill climbs. Where on earth is there a place to ride in Penn hills?
I hear if you know somebody local you can park and ride. But if you aren't on somebody's property your vehicle will most likely get vandalized.

Near Universal road. Someone I work with parks their truck at the trail head and it never got messed with. People park along the road near the slags and go in. I never heard of anyone having a problem. The place is pretty nice to ride. On one side of the road are trails and on the other is the slags with the hill climbs. I mostly ride the woods, but most people cross back and forth. It's not a huge place, but it's fun.

I'll have to check this out Glenn. I remember some slag dumps down that way when I lived in Penn hills as a kid. I think it was on the the road where you turned at the universal joint to go towards Monroeville. Is that right?
