Last winter was all about cosmetics on our convertible ... In the end, the car came out really nice and my wife drove the wheels off it all summer ...

Moving into this winter, it's time to make it go a little quicker ;) time to do something about this ...
Other than a drop in K&N filter, it's as stock as it came under hood. I've got enough spare parts laying around to go ahead and turbo the thing. Goals for it are rather simple, planning to have it ready to run 14.00's for the NMRA race at Norwalk this summer. It will iekly be a little more capable than that, but don't want to deal with the convertible rules for rulling quicker.

The start of this is a forged piston short block ... This one has been around a while but never got used because of the higher compression. This will make it boost limited, but perfect for this .. .a little more snappy off boost and good for ~15 psi if needed ....

First major step is modifying this early turbo block for the DIS pick-up ... I have a template made, just need to make up a drill jig and get to drilling and tapping ...

That's one sweet-looking vert!!! Wheel and tire choice is right-on!
How about some before & after 1/4 mile times?!?! Fire up the G-Tech Pro before you tear her down!!

Wheel and tire specs?
Keep in mind these are 4 lug ...
Fronts are 17x9 with a 255/50/17 tire and have a 1/4" spacer.
Rears are deep dish 17x10 with a 275/50/17 tire ... The rears "shouldnt" need a spacer but there is something unique on the vert back there so they rubbed inside a little ... ended up rolling the lips and running a 1/4" spacer there too. I "think" good control arms will eliminate that need and will find out soon enough ;) I don't remember the offsets any more (killed those brain cells with alcohol apparently).
How about some before & after 1/4 mile times?!?!
Phhhhtttttt ... 93 convertible (heavy) with a 2.3 / A4LD combo ... We would need to time it with a sundial. it's slow, stupid, slow, PAINFULLY slow right now. After times will have to suffice ;)

A blue car tried to launch out over the cliff Sunday morning, got tangled up in some trees. We'll need to prep the area with chainsaws first.

Made a plexiglass template today, drilled and tapped the block, changed front seal carriers, and have it all assembled...

Progress on this deal has been slow while working on my Capri stuff ... I have been gathering parts.
Have a C4 transmission / converter on the way and am going to put this one on MicroSquirt too. Should be a fun ride now that I have a plan ... also should not need that cliff ;)

Didn't feel right all day today ... Wasn't sick, just felt off like some disturbance in the force, lol then FedEx showed up and dropped a C4 on my porch :)
Bolted the bell up and installed the converter and parked it on my engine stand until things get ready.

Martin0660

It's a F29 converter ... Should be 3,000 stall and flash to 3,800. All of that will depend on what torque I can make getting into boost.

Now that my junk is coming together I can get a little more serious with getting this together;) Got my old reliable T3 and ported manifold back from Frank...

Waiting on the custom gauge panels, squirt, and a pile of other little bits. Still need to decide on a shifter and what I'm going to do for an inter cooler.

Now we are getting there! Just got the new EMS (Megasquirt based), injectors, and oil feed and return parts. Big chunk of this project.

There are guys using MicroSquirt or MegaSquirt on their LSX swap cars. I should've asked you about it before I shelled out a bunch of money on my wiring harness & HP Tuners. I'm computer retarded & know just enough to be dangerous. lol

I'll show you the tuning interface some time for the squirt (Tuner Studio). I usually have the laptop in the car. The MS is more "native" to GM as it was written to use all GM sensors. It can be adapted to the Ford stuff, but the default is GM. On my junk I converted t oseveral GM sensors just ot keep away from calibration.

LOL, unfortunately, the nuts between the turbo and manifold are an open end wrench only deal. Not up to my usual standards but I do also own a few cresent wrenches.

Many moons ago (and I mean many), I was trying to sell boats at some joint that wasn't even on the water. I made friends with the mechanic. I was helping him one day and he asked me to get him a certain size wrench. I went to the huge tool chest and brought him a Crescent wrench. He took it, looked at it and said to me, "Going over there and choosing a Crescent wrench among all the options you had is like going into a bar and ordering milk".
It's true. He broke my balls off, it was hilarious, he was right, I remembered it for 800 years, etc... :laughing1:
