Well, it turned out to be a great day for racing despite the "perfect storm" predictions that were supposed to put an end to the event this weekend.

My dad ran a new best. He made a switch to 27X10.5X15 hoosier QTP's and a manual rack. The results were a new best 60' of 1.53 and a 11.6 at 117mph. He made a total of 9 passes and after some helpful tips to line up in the groove from Joe dad made several back up 11.6 runs. Unfortunately he suffered a transmission failure after his last pass and the TKO is now stuck in 4th gear and there are no more "gates" to be found via the shifter. DOH!

I'll let Joe and Rob chime in with their new best.

It was great to what our three 5 speed cars were capable of!

Some great photos are already up at Tracy's site:

She is the official photographer for the event and she takes some great shots.

I have videos of everyone's runs, including GMKILLR and Cam 303's brother's vehicles. I'm working on a complilation right now of everyone's best run(s).

Can't wait to do it all over again in the fall! It was good to see the 60's in Mike's car coming down where they should be and perhaps with more suspension tweaks a 1.4x sixty will be within grasp.

Since I was busy video taping everyone's runs, I only managed to get one picture the entire day, but it came out well. Enjoy Joe:

Here's the video I made of some of the runs I got on tape. Enjoy!

I also have some random pics of the pits I'll put later when I get a chance to upload them.

1. I couldnt hook up as the track wasnt prepped very well in the morning when I got my 3 runs in. Seems like later in the afternoon everybody was hooking up pretty well after they sprayed more vht.

2. Yes I was hitting the rev limiter, I need a bigger pill in my msd, I was riding the rev limiter from the 1000'-1100' mark all the way through the traps. I just need more time for testing, that was the 1st. time out w/ the new combo.

You should have said something. I had a 7,000 and 8,000 rpm chip for the MSD in the Expedition. What rpm where you hitting into the limiter?

its my experience that they start about 200 rpm early so they limit you by the marked rpm. thats why i was only able to go to 5800 with a 6k on the dyno..:(

I think I popped a head gasket from pressure in my cooling system, im not positive on it yet though as I still want to do a compression check & see how it turns out.

You know, I haven't been on here in a long time (so long in fact, I had to re-register my username!)....but how did I know that I would find a thread about one or more Riva cars breaking records, LOL! Congrats to your dad, Paul! Great numbers for sure. It takes all of about 2 minutes of reading this/looking at the pics and I want another stang again!! I still have the pic Tracy took in '04 of my car launching up on the wall in our den, with the time slip there too. I'll never forget that day, OR CECIL! :awsome: I'm going to have to try to make it to the race in the fall, no doubt. Paul, give me a call some time - I'm curious what's happening with your car and how the family is doing. Hello to Molly!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone, rob sorry to hear about your car man - sounds like you're turning some good numbers though. Joe, not sure if you remember me, I was the guy who gave you the jump on your expedition at PRP last year (had my dad's blue chevy truck and trailer parked next to you). Congrats on your numbers too, hell of a car you have there. Troy - hello to you too!

Rob, Troy - I've been good - it has been a while since I've seen either of you. Rob, I think last year at PRP was the last time, I was up there with Dave - can't remember exactly when. And that would be who I was with when I met you, Joe - we had my buddy Dave's black '95 cobra in the trailer. You might remember him too, he was bs'ing with you for a bit.

Glad to hear that things are well with all of you, especially with the cars. I can't believe the times you all are turning. Paul has said it before and it's true, some of the fastest stangs in the country are right here in this area....AWESOME :awsome: Hopefully I'll make it out to the track again soon so you all can talk me into buying another stang soon, LOL! (don't tell my wife that)

Take care and good luck! See you 'round soon hopefully!

Between 5,200 and 6,200 this outing. Believe it or not, I was leaving @ 6,600 rpm at the last rental at PRP.

Are you even pushing the clutch in at all when you shift?? An untrained ear might think you had an automatic in that car!
