Just bought a Grabber Blue GT. Its an auto with 3.15 gears. Wondering if anyone seen how quick these are in the 1/4. I bought a Pypes muffler delete and a Bama tuner. Any idea and how much that might improve it?

Thanks for the help in advance.

I would say high 12's stock form but the 3:15 gears might hurt a little.

Is it true the autos run about as well as the stick cars?

The auto coyotes tend to run better than the stick cars at the strip. Much more consistent.

I read they have a lower 1st gear. Have you ran your auto 13?

Best I did was 12.4x @ 3850lbs with a tune and tires. We discovered some things with the tune after the fact, most tune and tire cars go high 11's. I have headers, cai and converter in the works for my next trip down the track...

The carcomputerkeeps giving me 13.3 @ 111mph. Is it not accurate? 12 anything would be great.

Quite messing with that carcomputer and get to the track, 12's all day long are not a problem!

Try a search here.. http://www.dragtimes.com/ It's a pretty cool site. Be sure to upload your slips if you ever hit the strip.

Got one right now that does mid to low 11s with an exhaust minus headers, mail order tune, cai on 20in forgestars. And there is a huge debate on the gears. Almost all the fast auto guys have stock gears due to the gearing in the tranny.

And yes the auto cars are faster than the stick cars. There are just now got one or two of them in the 9s but there are 8auto cars in the 8s.

yeah, but if the cars running in the 8s have a stock tranny i would be EXTREMELY surprised. they probably have a built 3 speed or whatever they put it in them. but automatics are much more consistent, that is common sense. a lot easier to miss a shift and get a bad launch when you have to control 3 things instead of one. personally i think the challenge is worth the .1 that you may lose if the auto is indeed faster.

great car, but take her to the track and get REAL numbers!

I think most (if not all) of them are stock autos with a converter and that't it - no other tranny work. I may be wrong though. The new 6R80s are beasts. I'd still take my MT82 over one any day though :)

They are stock trannys with stalls. None have th400 or any other 3spd autos. And its not .1 its 1.4 second difference. Than the fastest mt-82 which it has some aftermarket work done. Im not arguing the whole auto vs stick thing again.

Converter and clutches is all the new autos need to hold big power, that's why I got one! The stick cars run very good too but your average driver cant setup or pilot a stick car to it's maximum potential. Obviously there are some really good drivers out there which is why you see comparable times between the two. Where the 2 trannys start to show there true colors is when you start adding real power to the cars...

I've only made 10-15 passes in my tune and tires car, best I could get out of it was a handful of 12.4X's @ 3850bs. We did overlook some things in the tune though, with the tune changes and some upgrades I installed yesterday it should be a little quicker.

So Mike yours is an auto??Yes sir!

If the autos are faster then why has an auto never won a coyote stock race?

How do you figure? The motors are about as stock as it gets. Gains can only be made in the driveline.

The autos may be faster for those with no skill but to just say that they are faster period is B.S.!!! I will agree that the new autos are stronger though.
