So I bought this car a few months ago and it was already torn apart by the owner before the owner I bought it off of. Needless to say that it was missing a few things. The kinda of build I am going for is just a very mild fun to drive every day if I have to car if I have to. It has a stock rebuilt t5 with a ram clutch kit. Stock rear end with stock gears(for now). The engine need a total rebuild. Someone had ripped it all apart cleaned a few things and put new gaskets and paint on it. It looked good but I would have never trusted it. Huge grind marks in the head gasket surface and intake/exhaust ports were the same. Looks like someone tried to clean the with a grinder as well as the piston tops. So now the engine I built is 306 with gt40p heads alex valve springs for a tfs1 cam, 3 angle valve job new guides and seals. Port matched exhaust and intake. Explorer upper and lower intake 70mm throttle body and egr spacer ported intake to 70mm. Under drive pullies with a/c and smog delete. 3g alternator 16" electric fan. Tapped thermostat housing for fan switch.

I hope it runs ok. I would like to hear from people with simular builds.

got it running yesterday. Sounds nasty with no exhaust other than an h pipe on it. It also need the o2 sensors. Couldnt let it run long only about 30 secs due to the fact I have no coolant for it either. Sucks being broke. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/mudbonestinkynutz/IMG951136_zps0582abc8.jpg

Yeah this car was the nicest one I could find in my price range. I might complain about it but all the work is gonna be worth it. Also under neith the car last night I noticed at some time someone had reenforced the upper and lower control arm boxes. Just one less thing I have to do.

Got this thing running pretty good now. I had a cylinder 6 misfire due to a bad injector so replaced them all with 24# and bigger maf for injectors. I am gonna need someone in the pittsbugh area who can do a tune for me any one have any recomendations?

so.... now my clutch slips and have an oil leak in the bell area. How come I work on cars all day long and never have a problem untill its my own stuff?

sounds like rear main seal...also...most tuners like to use a maf set for stock injectors and tune the computer for the difference

Looks real good! Hopefully the rear seal seals up. I had the exact same problem, I feel your frustration!!

So my oil leak was the pan gasket at the rear super easy fix . Put in the Ram clutch kit and found my cylinder 6 misfire that turned out to be a defective spark plug. Thing runs good and sounds great except for a driveline vibration also that should be fixed when I get my aluminum drive shaft and do my gears and rearend rebuild. Also wanna make my charcoal canster system work again

My drive line vibration ended up being some one installed the wrong u joint in the front. It was to small the caps fit and were sitting on the clips but the joint it self was to small letting the shaft move allover the place.

Going to try and tackle the gears this week end never done them before. I hope it makes it eaiser to drive it has stock auto gears in it now. Pulling out with that high of a gear is kinda hard with the tfs1 cam

I just Installed my Upper and lower control arms and aluminum drive shaft. Made a night and day difference in the way the car drives and handles. Deff a lot less flex in the drive train It spins the tires some much easier now but with no wheel hop. I love it.
