View Full Version : Firearm guys/Mossberg model 870 tactical a good home defense weapon /

I already bought one but wanted some opinions from guys who are knowledgeable about firearms. Though I've always kept a firearm in my home for self defense, I am far from educated on the subject of what gun is appropriate for a given purpose.

I have a S/W .38 revolver and now the Mossberg 870 tactical 12gauge. Good home defense choices or not ?

It's a mossburg 870? Not a 500? The shotgun of any variety is the ultimate in home defense. Limited penetration through walls and the spread is great for quick target acquisition. Not to mention the tell tale "chick-chick" of the slide being racked is universally known!!

It's a model 870 tactical. I think there are a couple different versions of it.

You are correct. i don't know why I wrote Mossburg. Looking at too many firearms I guess. LOL.

For home defense, a shotgun is best. I keep a .38 Special and .410 loaded in the bedroom at all times. My wife can handle both very well and yet both are plenty effective. I also keep a loaded S&W AR 15-22 close at hand for in home defense.

I would definitely recommend the 12ga. pump for any type of home defense, loose association to being a thug/rapper, the reasons are endless!

Did a bit of customization on the Remington 870 today. Added an ATI adjustable stock with pistol grip along with a side saddle.
Now I just need to find a place to shoot it.
