been reading a lot more on the F cam for my application.
I am getting mixed feedback.
Was going with the GT40 intakes, F cam, 1.6 RR, either GT40/P, or used aluminum heads. But stock short block.
What do you all think of the F cam selection for me?
This is a street driven car. It is an auto, and is currently geared 3.27 but have 3.73 and 4.10 on the shelf.
Planning on the 24# or 30# injectors and matching MAF for whatever is selected. May find a used set of LT and matching mid pipe or just find some decent shorties.
That is the plan so far. besides pulling motor to replace seals and gaskets while it is out. And I see this cam requires a stall TC so that would have to be on the shopping list too.

410 gear for sure with an auto...the f cam was rough for me at idle and is old technology now...you can get some nice off the shelf cams these days better..a custom cam is always best if you can have the extra change...

If you are going to stick with a small head (GT40 or similar) I wouldn't bother finding something else if you already have the F cam. It's not a bad grind. Don't bother with shorties consider long tubes mandatory unless you have the parts already.

not "set" on anything as far as heads go. depends on what used aluminum's come up in the next few weeks also. but the GT40/P are a safety net.
I am keeping my eyes open for MAC LT's as they seem to be the ones to fit the auto trans
I would like to slap in the 4.10 but since I currently cruise 80 mph at 2200 RPM the 4.10 being up in the 3k range for long hauls bothers me.

80 is steep for 410...if u decide to use f cam with ur combo should b a nice 300hp combo...

F cam to be here this weekend.
now trying to decide which rockers. 1.6 as noted on cam card or 1.7? seen lots of combos for both.
some things to keep in mind is I will be running stock valve covers and short block.
opinions?

GT40 type heads don't flow much past .500 lift, the F cam has .512 lift, so I would go 1.6

good point.
1.6 is what I had planned from the beginning. but recent searches showed lots with the 1.7 so I thought I would look for opinions.

I had gt40ps that were ported with a t-moss ported lower intake an explorer upper, headers and a F cam and I was really happy with it for all the more money I had in it. Guy with a factory five car bought it....video of it somewhere

The 1.7 is a good little trick if your heads flow past the available lift in your cam. For instance, with stock HO or E cam, but the lift of your F cam already meets the lift/flow limits of your heads.

Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate all the response. I picked up my cam today.
deciding between three sets of heads at the moment. Then to buy all the little stuff to finish it up.
