Hello all. This is my second time on Steel City Stangs. I used to have an account when I had a 2000 v6, and I decided to make a new one after purchasing my 1999 Cobra. I bought it last May after saving money for a couple years, and I couldn't be happier. I just graduated college from UPJ in December with an accounting degree and I am currently on the job hunt. So to those members who are accountants or work for accounting companies, please do not hesitate to give me some tips, or if possible at all, let me know if your companies are looking for new entry level talent. I would really appreciate it. Second, since my car is sitting in storage I'm beginning to think of a spring mod, and I think I have decided on Borla Stingers. With that said, is there anybody that has this setup, preferably on a 4v, but also a 2v, that would be willing to meet with me when the weather breaks so that I can hear it in person before i spend $800. I will most likely keep the stock H due to annoying emissions laws and I like the smoothness that I have heard in youtube videos. Thanks to everybody and I am glad to be back on the site!!

My buddy had borla stingers on his 96 cobra, stock H pipe. Sounded nice and loud, but a smooth, deep growl. I loved it.

I have Borla Stingers but I have a Magnaflow catted X. Borla Stingers are the best sounding exhaust for a 4v IMO. I've had 2 other Catback systems and this one is a keeper. Watch Amazon. I got mine off of there from an open box deal very cheap. Paid 445 with tax. Here's a video of mine. There's also an in car video on my channel as well.

Ya my old name wasnt very cool, i like my new one its my cars nickname. And ya thats why i want to keep the stock h. Im 21 but i dont want an obnoxiously loud exhaust but i want to be heard and turn some heads. Cheapest i can find lately is 660 but hey thats way better than 790 haha

Why dont' you just look for a used one on one of the national forums? Surely there are a bunch for sale - and for probably 1/2 of the new price... no point in spending more than you have to, especially if you're 21

Welcome!
Borla is definitely the way to go as far as 4v's are concerned. As you can hear from MG's car, it's amazing. It's still got the loudness you'll desire even with the catted x (and I might add that the Magnaflow Catted X is one of the best IMO).

x2, plus the fact they're stainless means they're more than likely still in good shape.

Well if i find a used one for like 400 i might as well get a brand new polished and shiny one for 250 more. I have plenty of money (paid 10,000 cash for my car at age 20) thanks to working 70 hour weeks at the postal service haha so i wont mind because im keeping this car mostly stock

I'd still keep an eye out for deals man. I've saw some deals on the national forums that I've almost bought stuff that I didn't even need just because they were short changing themselves with it lol..

i know that right now you're naive and think that you're going to keep that mostly stock......... but trust me, you wont - haha... that money will come in handy down the road ....
Back when i was 20 or 21 i bought my LS1 Trans Am... thought i'd keep it mostly stock.... exhaust led to an intake, which led to gears, which led to a cam, which led to heads and manifold, which led to twin-turbos.... and then you sell it and throw all that money away....
i assure you, it never stops.... i wouldn't look at it as "i can afford it right now..." ... just my opinion - not calling you wrong or stupid for your decision, just another viewpoint to consider

I'll attest to that. I try not to mod my car much, especially because I'm getting married and looking to buy a house with the fiance, however... I still look for deals haha. Now that I'm in a position where I am going through a career change (lost my job in Healthcare after the past 4 years and moving up within a company that looked stable), I'm starting back into school and when I get out, luckily I'll only have an additional 8-10k of debt for my B.A in Imaging/Management. Needless to say, once I score a better job, I'll probably get the modding bug even worse considering I have to kind of take a back seat with it now haha..

Well I think I'm going with this setup. Another member on here has the x for $300 and I pulled the trigger on it i guess lol. It is still on his car and I have to wait till he puts his longtubes on. Now i read online that some people have trouble with the borla catback bolting to aftermarket midpipes because borla narrows the tubes at the connection point. How did yours fit? Any leaks or problems? Did it throw a code or did you need a tune?

Borla for sure. best quality and sound for sure. tough not to get drone on older cars, but i am sure they will provide the least. and like these guys are saying, if you can find something for a steal, take it. stainless steel is hard to screw up. i am sure that you can find new tips somewhere if you absolutely have to have them. save the money while you are young. start a retirement account with that 200 dollars. and if you sell it, whether you apens 800 or 400, you are not going to get any of that money back. basically throwing a week of work out the window.

Ya trust me im as cheap as they come. The only reason im getting borlas and an x pipe is that i feel i need to treat myself. I constantly take crap at work from other people while being on my feet and moving heavy containers 10 hours a day. And i never mod my car and i feel exhaust is the most important to me because whether you are cruising or racing, you hear it. So im gonna actually get the best for once lol

I'm with you on that one buddy. I worked 60+ hrs a week in healthcare, dealing with people whining about how they ran a 5K over the weekend and their feet hurt, or how they have a sore throat for an hour, or kids and adults coughing on me, sneezing on me, dealing with peoples shit and having to be so caring because they are "so sick". Then I had to deal with shit with my ex at home and she was a pile of garbage. So when we broke it off I did the same thing. I bought a Mustang and went out and spent over a grand on my Exhaust.. I bought a Magnaflow Tru-X catted x and a Magnaflow Competition Exhaust. I love it. Aside from Spintech, I think that Magnaflow is the best sounding exhaust on a 2v. Borla hands down, is the best on a 4v.. I was envious I didn't have a 4v because I wanted a Borla exhaust so bad. Doesn't sound anywhere near as good on the 2v's lol.. Just remember though, try to buy used when you can if you find a good part, because I too said I wouldn't do much to mine, and I'm always changing things up on my car. I regret spending the 1k on my exhaust sometimes because I could have used it for other stuff!

That sucks I always hated that about places that are the temp-hire's. How long until you're hired on? Do they have a time frame set out for you?

Are you a CPA? I'll tell you a job I think I'd enjoy is being an Auditor and traveling different places. My buddies wife does that. I worked in Healthcare as a Trainer for new clinics that we were opening. Was a good job until they cut my department lol. I got a chance to do a lot of traveling to different cities from the east coast to the mid west. You should put ads up to do peoples taxes in the mean time. People are always looking for private vendors that are good to goto!

sure, if you want EVERYONE to hate you........ lol
My accounting teacher in high school was an internal auditor for Mellon Bank and said that everyone hated them.... I haven't had to be audited at work (knock on wood) but i know people that have, and it's apparently not fun. The hardest thing for us is explaining to people why we did what we did - the auditors try really hard to understand, and sometimes they just can't comprehend it.

Haha not gonna lie I dont like the idea of being an auditor. That was the worst class in college I became an accountant to work with numbers and we never used numbers in that class and it was awful
