Any gains to justify the cost of a regear from 3.27 to 3.73?

I currently have 3.27 in my 8.8 and auto trans 5.0. But I also have a set of 3.73 sitting on the shelf. I was about to sell them unless I can find some good positive gains to justify the regear cost to use them. I know in other stangs 2.73 to 3.73 was great but I fear I wouldnt be as happy with the money spent on this.

I would love 4.10's but with my highway RPM already at 2200-2500 (IIRC) at 80 I think 4.10 would just be too high of a cruising RPM

Thoughts? any real world gains experience?

Wouldn't even be a question for me....I'd go 3.73 all day

get the gears changed out and get a tune (if you do not already have one). will probably be the greatest day of your life...

2.73s to 3.55s was a great wake-up call for my car years ago. With overdrive I'd think 3.73s would do more food than harm.

All my cars were 3.73. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I love 3.73's in a stick car. No experience with an auto - but unless you are doing a lot of highway driving I can't see a downside of 3.73's in an auto.

I'm a fan of 3.55's in all my cars. My 2001 F-150 (auto), '88 T-bird (5 speed) and Ranger (C4) all have them and make a nice cruising gear all around.

I even had 3.73 in my 2000 GT (automatic) and it was still very livable and fun!

3.73's in a Manual are about the equivalent of 4.10's in an Automatic. 3.73's are a pretty fun gear to have, especially when I drove my cousins boosted GT a few times. If you're still worried about having a good cruising gear, get the 3.55's. You'll still have the added acceleration and have a livable 5th gear (in my opinion).

But this is an auto...no 5th gear.

Hmm my bad. I forgot it was an auto :(

for an N/A car I enjoyed my 4.10s with both an auto and a manual - I've had both in the same car.

seems the general consensus is to slap them in. Guess I will hang on to them and pull the axle sometime and go have them installed.

Fwiw, going from 3.27s to 4.10s only changed my overdrive cruising rpm by maybe ~250 rpm. I think 70 is around 2500?

There are rpm calculators you can figure it out with.
