I just changed the heater core in the 83 in about 20 minutes, start to finish. Something to be said for simplicity:)

Maybe cause no a/c?? Not sure but all I had to do was take two screws out of the glove box door hinge and take door off. Behind it there was a cover with five 8mm bolts in it. Under the cover there was the heater core. The only problem is the blower doesnt run. Never checked it because i knew the heater core was bypassed. Lol. Now i have to fix that

Yep, only with the non AC cars however. The early cars with AC are just as big of a PITA. It took me 25 minutes to do my Capri because the ignition box is mouthed in front of the door.

I can change the heater core in my 89 F450 (with AC) in the same 20 minutes.

I did one on my '85 GT when I was in college. It might have taken less than 3 days if I drank less than a case a beer doing it! Oh, A/C car.

Had to change the heater core twice in my old 87 Mustang. It was no easier the 2nd time and I swore I would never do it myself again. Not fun!

A/C cars are easy. Pull glovebox door, punch a hole in the heater box, change core, tape (use GOOD tape) over hole. No one can see just how ghetto of a fix it is, and you save yourself like 4 days of your life. And make sure you put a restrictor in (old socket in the line going in works well) or you will be replacing it again.

I cut one out of the front of the firewall on an old chevy truck I had in my youth to change it, lol. I'm not proud but it worked!
