So, this is what happens when you have a Chevy truck and a Mustang. The Chevy truck gets pissed and spits a tooth off the ring gear and through the housing. Not one other scratch in the ring or pinion. Nothing at all. Just 1 tooth. No noise, no vibration, nothing. The only reason I found it was I was road testing the stang after changing the balancer, noticed some oil on the driveway. Smelled it and thought, shit, I blew the gears out of the 'stang. Looked under and found nothing, looked at the Chebby and found an undercoated truck bed. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA This sucks.

My Lightning did the same kinda crap... Except when it shifted into 2nd, it destroyed 3 spider gears... Was awesome driving the 50 miles home. But, after i got it fixed that time, was driving around, and a peice of spider got stuck in the pinion valley, well it worked loose, caught my exciter ring, and put a hole in my cover.

Id have never known if my speedo never jumped. Got out, and was smelling for it... Found it! lol

Jared, I dont like driving the stang to work. It gets dirty. It has not been wet since July. Not even to wash it.

I just swiped the one out of my brother-in-laws step side for free. Pulled the cover and what do ya know? I see a 11 41 stamped in the ring. 3.73's. Sweet!!! Simple swap, thats all. I'll be back in action tomorrow. Drained the fluid and re-filling in the jackstands, possibly painting to make it look good. I'm just glad he is junking the truck. That also means I'll have another motor for mine. The 6 is just crappy on power and would not do good in front of a 700R4.:awsome:

Or you blow a u-joint in it like I did, and my chebby only has 37,000 miles on it. P.O.S...

HAHA Got one better then that. Back in '91, a bubby of mines dad bought a brand new GMC to pull the race car. It was a full size, 350 5-speed 4WD. Nice ass truck. Well, on the first weekend of owning it we went for a ride down Turnervalley Rd in North Huntingdon. He was pulling out from a stop sign and BAM!!!!!!!!!! Truck stopped moving. Snapped the drive shaft right in half. Truck had less than 100 miles on her. Got a new Transfer case and shaft from that one. Thats when I dubbed GMC as Generic Made Chevy.:goodidea: Oh yeah, he still has that truck and its well over 200K now.

Yesterday. Rear out, new one painted and installed. Drove it last night to make sure it was good. Its all good. All new wheel cylinders, lines. Now It might need cables. Anybody want to have a chevy bonfire? Time to get a new Silverado. I like the blue 4-door.
