Turbo/blower Kit- Thoughts?

Within the next year or so I plan on adding a blower or turbo. I would not be installing either myself and would take it to a reputable shop. I am still doing my research and it seems that a supercharger will run about $2,500 - $3,000 + labor for an entry level supercharger kit. Mods include a 306 crate, e303 cam, 24lb injectors, intake, shorty headers, msd


This is not my daily driver, but I still don't want to fry the motor with too much boost. What entry level blower/turbo do you guys recommend checking out? What kind of labor cost should I budget for?

I don't know much about 5.0's and i know they're cheap to mod, but I would put a pretty good probability that the turbo kit is junk.......... a good turbo will cost you nearly the cost of that entire kit, let alone all of the other crap included. Maybe some people have had luck with those kits, but i wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it....

in general, i think you'll get into a lot more money, and hassle, with a turbo kit. If you're not looking to go HUGE power, might as well stick with a supercharger, particularly if you can get one for that price.

I'm with bish on this. Budget turbo cars are usually more of a headache than anything. Unless you have bigger plans , I would go with a vortech or Paxton centri. Just my opinion

You can buy a replacement from Turbonetics for $800. The Hurricane series turbos are cheap.

please do not buy an ebay turbo kit. you might as well light $2,000 on fire. it probably won't fit for crap and the turbos will go bad in a few thousand miles

I have had em both. The turbo in the long run is more hassle and more expensive. Blowers you have belt slip and you have to basically buy everything at once. I love my Procharger. I like the whistle and the loudness and makes good power. The turbo car I had made huge power but it was a bigger turbo car so down low it was ehh. I have had nitrous/turbo/blower. For me I prefer blower for street, nitrous for street and strip and turbo for strip.

On the lsx scene the on3 turbos are making huge power and running awesome times. There are also Alot of guys who have had Alot of issues with precision turbos blowing apart as well. Know a couple people who went from precision to on3. Baggedsvt ( owns sonic blue whipple lightning up there) made 960 rwhp on a stock 6.0 with on3 turbos and runs 8.8s @160

What do you plan on doing with it can also determine your choice too?! Just plan to spend a lot of mula, in between 5 and 10 grand is where you'll end up.

I'df vote for the On3 kit. You'll still need a few supporting parts like injectors and fuel pump but I'd bet you could have it in and tuned for less than $2500. Then you can upgrade the rest of the car(tranny, rear, shortblock, etc.) over time after that.

I did the on3 kit on my 99 gt and haven't had really any issues with, only problem was the merge pipe from the headers was a pain to get together, I went with their 70mm turbo but I'm going to upgrade eventually tho, car made 415 rwhp on a mustang dyno on 9 psi. I had about 3800 bucks in it. I think for the price it's a decent kit.

Not sure I want to go that route.
