I woke up this morning and our house was at 62 degrees. The gas furnace has been on since 630 this morning and its now about 69 degrees in the house. I know it's cold outside but taking 12 hours to go seven degrees is crazy. I replaced the air filter just now and I never remember having this issue since we've lived here.
I just put a thermometer on the vent and I'm getting a 115 degrees coming out.

I'm not an HVAC professional, but I did sell and size industrial electric heaters for many years. That seems fairly normal. You size heaters to maintain temp in worst case senario which around here I would typically say -10 to -20. Maintain would mean running constantly to prevent the temperature from falling below the design temp of 70-72. On a day like today that doesn't leave a lot of safety factor, especially with the wind blowing so the fact that it was climbing, although slowly, seems about right. :twocents:

It's usyally pretty inexpensive to call a furnace place and have them do a "tune up" to your furnace.

Hello :)
There are a few factors that can result in poor heating results. Clogged air filter, clogged secondary heat exchanger, clogged evap coil, registers closed or covered up, flame quality/ combustion quality, leaky ductwork, uninsulated ductwork running through a non conditioned space. however furnaces are sized in this area with a load that isn't as low as the temperature has been lately so it very well could just be at it's limits of what it can heat. i've had a half dozen calls the last two days that have been that very scenario

Thanks all. Replacing the filter seemed to help a good bit. I'll see what happens over the night.
Agreed on the tune up idea. Good call.

Love my wood furnace!! Heating 2800 sqft at a toasty 70 degrees and it's hardly running.
I talked to folks over the last two days also that are seeing the same thing as you. It's a tit bit nipply out!!
