I think it would be nice if any members from the forum wanted to meetup and hangout as a group when the FLDs start back up. I'm a loser and always end up standing around by myself and no one to talk to LOL.

Anyway, I know it's still a bit early, but perhaps we can use this thread to capture all that want to attend and maybe meet up and park by each other and stuff. This can serve two purposes:

1) It's easier for us to compare setups and go out for runs

2) Any others wanting to race, we could pick from our forum's cars to find the best match up

Sorry, it's winter time and I just want to talk cars haha.

Without further ado, I've scanned our previous shit talking thread and put together a list of members that have expressed interest:

ERR0RMACR0 (GT-R)
Ruthless (Turbo Terminator)
GMKillr (NA Z06)
Went9s (Crazy Fox lol, don't know if it's boosted or on spray)
Amwells1 (NA C6?)
Tom (Turbo Fiero)
JuiceMan86 (86 Mustang GT)
JeffreyCole (1G DSM)
Seer (2015 Mustang GT - Potentially boosted by the first FLDs)
TheDak (GT-R)
RedRocketVette (Chevette LS Turbo)
SlowSix (Mustang V6 Turbo)
Dewayne (1G DSM)
AdamantiumSilvr (2000 Mustang GT?)
MGTF289 (?)
SK360 (C6 Vette)

Within our group races:
ERR0RMACR0 vs. Ruthless (possibly delayed until a later FLD)
ERR0RMACR0 vs. Went9s
GMKillr vs. Amwells1
JeffreyCole vs. SlowSix
JeffreyCole vs. Dewayne - 1G DSM Battle

Once we get closer to May, we could use this thread to set up a meeting time and location or whatever else. The other races discussed in the shit talking thread were track races at PRP, so I didn't include those (was thinking of making a new thread for that event--April 18th for those interested!). Side note: I want to see some DSM vs. Fiero action lol. Would that be a good race or no?

What are the locations of the each of the FLD's?

Aren't they held in a few different locations?

The one on May 31st is in Waynesburg--most of them are held there. I think a couple times a year they also hold them at Beaver Run.

The PVGP has the FLD's at PittRace in July. It's a great day, because they have vintage racing from 8am-5pm. The FLD's are just icing on the cake!

Honestly if you want to race and hook up head to Waynesburg all the fast cars show up there. Old Beaver run is just a down hill and then back straight on their road track. It's spin fest. It's a good time but I have to turn my car down so my guess is that most of them are.

ERR0RMACR0 don't put me down for runs that early. It's further out then I thought, currently down to the block and I know its going to take some time to get it back together. This could take a while.

JeffreyCole

I'll definitely be there, and will be racing, but I am sure that the car will be on a less than optimal tune, due to the limited time I will have to dial it in on the new setup, but I will use that time to help dial it in better.

With that said, I will run just about anyone just for fun. I don't give a damn if I lose or not.

The Fiero is going to be a lot faster than my car this year on his setup.

Most cars on here will probably be faster than me on straight pump gas, and e85 is out of the question here, so it will have to wait till I get a meth injection setup before I can put it "on kill".

Most DSM guys won't spend the kind of coin on these bolt on turbos anymore, so data is limited in the DSM application. On evos they have done over 700awhp on e85, but they have a better hot side, so I really don't know what to expect. Should be interesting.

Actually I don't want anything to do with it. Because when I beat someone, there will be nothing but belly aching and crying that I had an unfair advantage, or my car wasn't a certain color, or it isn't NA, or it had this particular mod, or I ran a certain tire type. No one runs what they brung anymore, and theres always some bitching and complaining. I'm just going to race myself this year. If you happen to be in the next lane and cross the line before me, kudos to you and good job.

I can't wait to see how much drama my car causes. I'm sure they'll toss it into the "big dog" or "outlaw" or whatever class they call it for cars that are "too fast" to be a street car. Too fast to be a street car, but I took a 1200+ mile roadtrip in it last summer lol.

The first time I went to FLD in my current car, I hadn't been there in forever, so I signed up for the Tuner class. I was quickly kicked the f-out and everyone was upset that I'd even sign up for it. I had zero idea what the hell was going on LOL

Everyone wants to race me "on the motor". Wtf. I built a nitrous car so I could run pump gas all the time and add half a can of Torco when I spray it. I could probably get away with 89 on the motor alone.

When they say they wanna race me without the spray, I ask them to unbolt their supercharger/turbo.

I was there that day. I wasn't upset at all, I just said "well shit... Im not winning today", which I really didn't think I would anyhow, but there were a bunch of other retards there that day (one was driving an altima or maxima with the front end all busted up) that did pitch a fit.

I couldn't get anyone to race me that day until the end. This was back when they did the pink slip thing, which I thought was cool, but I was literally standing there waving it at people trying to catch races and because I beat some other cars early in the day, it was like I had the plague or something.

I ended up winning the tuner class that day. I had to race an evo, sti, and supra to win, but it was an overall fun day for me.

I agee with you guys, to many cry babies out there. This should be fun to go to and run. The world is getting messed up when the fastest cars don't win, they get moved to another class.

Have you noticed that the flds guy haven't been back. They don't care if it gets fixed as long as people show up and have the entry fee. Same thing goes for people that cheat, they will just let it go as long as they get money.

Sorry to get off topic OP.

It is a little different for people like D-rod, Tom, Errormacro and myself (Sorry if I missed anyone else). I am sorry if you can't see that. I was happy as hell when my 93 pump gas car only lost by a fender to a drag car that has to pull over for cooling and to change its battery. I came closer then most people on here to taking one down on a good run by both parties. I am sure things would be different if everyone played by the same rules. When the day comes where a true street car takes one of these down. I will shake the drivers hand!

I do see why they allow these types of cars to run at these events, as I am sure that the majority of the funds that they make on this event are spectator entry fees. I figure there are roughly 200 racers @ 30 each (6k) and 2000 spectators (wild ass guess) @ 6$ each (12K), Plus vendor fees for food vendors, etc.

So 18k minus any sort of insurance fees, and salaries.

The spectators want to see the really loud, really fast cars go blasting down the track, so they cater to what will bring more spectators in. This is just how the business has to be done to be successful and profitable for them. They have to cater to them.

Not saying I agree with them being crammed into "Top street" or whatever because they aren't competitive in "Big Dog", or create a specific class for cars running full slicks.

Speaking of him having a fit... Here is a story and the only time I got pissed at one of these events. Seems "The Boss" didn't have a pink slip a few years back and it was after the 5:00 cut off. Well this was the only time I had to sit with my hood up to cool off before the finals and was doing just that. Then I hear over the pa "Would the owner of the blue mustang cobra come to the tent. He has been called out". I walked up to the tent to see what was going on and it was "The Boss". I about flipped because Turk and a few of the other guys made me feel like I had to run since I wasn't up on the rules at that time. I told them it was BS but I am not backing down from any call outs so lets go. Got my car and sat by the tent for a while waiting for "The Boss" to get his car. Waited some more...Yelled out my window at the fld crew to tell that F head to get his car up here. About that time everyone was confused so I told them I would go wait at the starting line. There I sat for 10 mins or so until I gave up. Talked to the guy running the lanes and was told "How he isn't coming up. Some one gave him a pink slip". Lets just say I did a topfuel burnout and left the line as hard as I could. As far as I was concerned I won that race. Went and parked the car and walked back up to the tent with my pink slip in hand looking for the guy and to see what was going on. I was told again. "Oh he has a slip". I told them that was funny because he never came up to race me and called me out to run for mine. I then told them to take my slip because I wasn't going to play these games and was laughed at. After some searching I found "The Boss" and put my slip under his wiper blade. It wasn't worth my time to go into the finals with him.

So the short of it... Just go for fun because some people can get away with murder at these events.

I have had a bunch of crap pulled on me over the years. I have been ready to race in the finals and at the last minute had the Early performance crew switch out cars on me because they felt I would beat the slower car I guess. Funny part was that their faster car blew up beside me then the fld crew says the track is safe to race on. I think Turk had a piston and a few other pieces in his hand when they announced that. I pulled my car out because the track wasn't safe. I think a stockish terminator won that day.

I was at the first one last year. I raced anyone that felt like lining up to me. I didn't care, I was having fun. I go down for very simple reasons. I love cars. I love driving my car. I love having fun. I think I ran 14 times last year. I won 11 of them. My favorites were the ones I lost. There was a built Camaro I lost to twice, and a Saturn Sky Redline that got me once. It was fun trying to tree them. I can't wait to get out there and do it again.

Anyone feels like lining up with me, please do......

Hahaha, nope was just editing! NOW we're at the yellow corvette quota.

We're up to like 17 cars--that would be quite a turnout for a single forum. If I missed you or got something wrong about your car, let me know!

The 1G DSM battle has been added--does anyone have an edge in the matchup? What are the setups?

I definitely have the edge here, even if I don't get the turbo upgrade bolted on before then, and he knows it :)

We both currently have 16g turbos on the car (~40 lbs/min airflow), but my new turbo showed up yesterday (68 lbs/min).

He has some stuff in the works too, but its doubtful that it will be done by then.

The journal bearing "Black" by Forced Performance.

From their site:

Now updated to the new HTZ Aero!
HTZ represents an increase of 5-7% in choke flow over the range of compressor sizes as well as an increase in maximum tip velocity giving you an even wider operating range for your turbocharger when pushing the limits of flow and choke flow for your turbocharger.
DSM JB Black

Compressor wheel - 82HTZ
Flow rating - 68LB per minute
CW Measurements - 59.1MM Inducer / 82MM Exducer
TW Measurements - 67.3MM Inducer / 58.8MM Exducer
Compressor Housing - 84MM Flow Advancement Port Cover
Turbine Housing - FP 8CM
CHRA - FP Journal Bearing
Oil Line - Not Included

Here it is the big daddy of stock fitment turbos the FP Black. This turbo features our 82MM HTZ wheel rated at 68LB a minute and has produced over 600WHP in the EVO community. Spinning the compressor wheel is our clipped 67MM turbine wheel stuffed into an 8CM turbine housing. This turbo is available internally gated but if you have an O2 housing setup for external you can bolt it right up to this turbo no custom O2 housing required.

Best pass last year was ....

13.0@105... but that was FAR from my "hero" pass.

Like a 2 second 60'... BOGGGG

EDIT. To further elaborate on comparing the current turbo

Compressor wheel inducer from 48.3mm to 59.1mm (+10.8mm)
compressor wheel exducer from 68mm to 82mm (+14mm)
Turbine wheel Inducer from 56.4mm to 67.3mm (+10.9mm)
Turbine wheel exducer from 47.5mm to 58.8mm (+11.3mm)

It is really quite a bit larger than the current turbo LOL.

I know I have personally been yelled at by people at the FLD's who take the competitive portion of it very seriously. Some people aren't there for fun, they are there to win.

It really left me with a sour taste in my mouth that day, and that person (who is a regular at the FLD's, but is not on here, that I know of) can feel free to place my balls in his mouth, and suck ever so gently, whenever he feels like it.

If that's the case then he should use his street tires. Its about safety in my book. Wreck one car from a blow out and see how fast they shut these events down.

Someone sat down and came up with a list of rules for a reason. I'm sure its due to insurance requirements (Same reason all cars must have valid inspection and registration, it's not just for fun and it is checked on the way in). The rules are in plain english. It doesn't matter what your intent is or how you don't think they apply to you.

I don't give a shit what tires you run but the people putting their necks out on the line to put these events on may and you may get asked to not run, not much you can protest at that point.

Same shit happened when PRP started their Street car Friday nights, people instantly started asking if they needed a plate, insurance, if their backhalfed funny car caged car could run etc.

The DOT's are more expensive as I am sure they have to be put through some sort of testing procedure.

If that's the case then he should use his street tires. Its about safety in my book. Wreck one car from a blow out and see how fast they shut these events down.

I love how early on in this thread you guys were discussing how lax the rules are and how there's a bunch of people on slicks there and now you guys have an issue with me running them on mine? My car has a bigger following than the entire event does, I was going to use this opportunity to promote the event with my huge reach in the car world (1320video, speedsociety, sloppymechanics, the car's own page, ect) but it's looking like I'm gonna have people causing trouble over stupid little things so forget that. I don't care if you're joking, you don't joke about causing damage to another person's car. If you think you have the balls to slash my wheels, I'll hand you the knife and you can do it right in front of me. Since we're using the "safety" issue (on my 10pt caged street car) as an excuse to keep my car from going down the track, how is having a dozen notches in the tires (ET STREETS) safer than having the same compound tire without the notches (ET DRAGS)?

I don't care what you run and would like to see the car run one way or another. But if the event organizers take issue with it then theres not much you can protest as it may be an issue of their event insurance coverage. More than likely you would be fine, there are plenty of cars there that bend the rules.

No reason to not go to the event. I would LOVe to see the event get that kind of coverage.

I know that I have seen people there on ET Drags (crazy supra 2 years ago) that were a lot wider than yours.

I wouldn't let this discourage you from attending the event at all.

I have no problem with event officials telling me I can't run it, that's fine with me. I have an issue with someone, who isn't part of the event staff in any way, threatening to do damage to my vehicle.

How is it cheating when it's basically a test and tune night on unprepped track? What am I cheating at? What's the gain? I'm looking to go down the track and I have a douche telling that they'll slash my tires. That's not supposed to upset me? Like I said, show up and slash them in front of me. It's real easy to act like a badass on the internet.

RULES have been listed earlier. Have a good time at the FLD events.

Ok this is out of hand.

RedRocketVette,
No one at these events is going to slash tires. Maybe daydream about it but that's about it. All of us would however like everyone to play by the same rules that the FLD crew has put together for us. I have no idea if slicks are better because I have not tried them. I don't know why we are not allowed to use them and never brought it up with the FLD crew. However there are rules listed above in this post and on the flashlightdrags.com website that most of us stick to and we would VERY much like it if EVERYONE would.

If you show up and have slicks on and are allowed to run it might be a good idea to make it clear to who you are running that you have them on and this is just for fun. Some people put money/dinner on their runs so I could see running slicks being an issue if that is the case.

been to many of these in the past but I missed quite a few last summer unfortunately. hopefully I will be able to attend most of them this season.
