Yes, this is yet another GTR thread. Now that we have 3 GTR's in this section I feel like we're slowly taking over. We may now have 1/100 of the amount of Mustangs on here so we're getting close.

I bought a white 2014 GTR in 2013, put the 1000 miles on it so I could get the first service from Nissan, then began to mod the car. I can't keep anything stock, it's an addiction. By summer time 2013, after the winter it was a FBO GTR on E85. All fabrication, tuning, and build were done by Buschur Racing. Dave is a good friend and is a master when it comes to making things fast. Highly recommended! We won the Stock Appearing GTR class at the Shootout in Norwalk in 2013 first time to track with the car. Ran a best of 10.2 @ 135. While this was fun, like all gear heads I wanted more. As much as I wanted a 9 sec pass on stock trans/block/turbos full weight, etc... it wasn't enough. Best before the build was 10.118 @ 135. This was done on 18" M&H DR's on all corners and a best short time of mid to low 1.4's. The car made a little over 600 on Buschur's Mustang Dyno.

Buschur Racing was just now in the GTR market and Dave and I had been talking about building the car over the winter. Dave is a no nonsense builder. If it's not fully functional, make power, or lightweight he doesn't build it. We decided to go with the following parts for the build:

BR 4.1 engine
BR Stage 3 head
BR spec'd cams for the build
BR Race FMIC and full 2.75" upper and lower i/c pipes
BR Mid pipe, 90mm
BR Single exit 90mm exhaust
BR Flex Fuel kit
AMS Alpha 12BR
DSS axles
T1 trans brace
Ivey Trans, Stage 4 transmission
FIC 2150's
Fore Innovations triple pump
AMS/Alpha Performance CCM brake kit
AMS/Alpha Performance turbo kit with BR/FP spec turbos
AMS/Alpha Performance hood, roof and deck lid
AMS/Alpha 17" wheels and slicks
Volk TE37's with M&H drag radials for the street
Cobb AP V2, tuned by David Buschur

The car made 862 WHP at 8000 RPMs at 21 psi. The FP/BR spec turbos made 20 psi in 4th gear at 4288 RPMs. The first goal was to be the first GTR to make an 8 sec pass on straight 93 octane. We were very close at Tx2K15 this year, with the first time to the track on the new setup, we managed a 9.112 @148 (GTR pump gas record by .2). This was with a 1.354 60 ft. Now that we have the car dialed in a little better it's to the track we go. There should be a track rental at Norwalk this month and if I can manage a way in, we'll try again. I'll be sure to post up if we do.

I'll post some pic below of the build a video of the record pass. Hope you enjoyed, I'll keep this thread updated as we progress.

In staging lanes. The only thing I dislike about these cars is you have to wait until the damn trans temp is up to 176 before you can launch it. So in the staging lanes you're constantly having to ensure your at temp. It's BS but I guess there for a good reason. I just hate the heat soak on the motor.

After the track rental it's time to load her up with E85 and make some power!!

There was a "GTR tax" when these first came out. Since then the prices have fallen some so it's pretty comparable.

4.1 with a nice set of turbos and a built tranny.

That kinda set up is outta my league. Awesome stuff.

Dave's shit always seems top notch.

I will do a 9.9 bolt on only pass before I go further.

I'll have a friend do a budget Manley rod and piston set up.

ARP stud everything. OEM heads and cams.

Factory manifold upgraded turbos. Prob SiR USM Turbos

Tranny takes coin to build no matter what.

Low 9s and traps of 150 on E85 are in my relm.

That would be an awesome build. I would highly recommend looking at the bolt on turbos that Dave sells. He hols the stock manifold record with an 8.7 on an "older" style bolt on turbo. The new one he has should put him into the 8.5's with ease. That blows my mind!

These trans do kick you in the dick when buying them. Look at the Ivey 1.5. Holds 8's, reasonable and quick turnaround/good support.

Low 9's on some corn fuel would be a sick setup! We just got E85 3 miles from my house.:)

Will def check out his turbos then.

I didnt know now he had stock manifold stuff.

Brand new Speedway just built close to me.

E85 is $1.99 right now. 9mpg though.... F it

Hoping gear set prices come down this year.

Not gonna lie, it's a little intimidating with nobody there but us. Regardless, today is the day records fall. I will try and post up when I can but we'll be busy trying different setups.

New diff has arrived and so did the tool that is needed to perform the swap. There also may be a different way to get heat to the rear tires without sacrificing the ets. There might be a chance we will rent Norwalk again next week. I'll post up results and updates as they happen. The GTR is coming back this week. Once the ring and pinion pushed apart in the front diff it exploded and in a about a split second it broke my block, belhousing and some other stuff. Everything is all buttoned up and been working on a full billet front diff with Buschur that houses a larger pinion gear and ring. We were able to salvage the block as well. Thankfully it was just a cast tab the ripped off and held the diff in place, it could have been MUCH worse. Added some support in the proper areas to try and dodge this incident again.
GTR's ETS units, that are located in the trans, had to come out to get tested. We found out that it was set tight and sending too much power to the front wheels. It should have 0-10 ft lbs of preload then break free (basically by hand), Buschur tested mine and it was close to 50-60 ft lbs which was sending a little much power to the front wheels when i was launching. Sucks I couldn't make the track rental, I was going to bring the Evo in leu of the GTR being out but duty called.

I was told PRLs ETS basically exploded when they pulled it apart from slipping.

Same thing happened to their car. Went from 8.70s to 9.40s cause it was loosened up too much.

It's a crazy piece that you can hold in your hand. Doesn't look like it can remotely support 1500hp+

If you own a high HP GTR it would be who of you to learn how to take this part out of the tranny on a yearly basis.

I'm in for a Shep 2.5 Build in November.

I'm 100% going loose on the ETS. I rather keep the front end happy and in one piece.

Its all a feel thing as well.

Only Shep, Ivey, Jacks and a couple others know how to put that thing together to get a certain feel.

MrAudia
08-08-2015, 11:45 AM
Car is on the lift and the ETS is getting tightened. I would not recommend going too loose on the ETS. Car behaves very differently and unsafe at high HP. I'll post up after we get it back in and I make a pass. Talked to Shep as well and he'll tell you the same.

IDK 1000+?? I wouldn't mind it so much if it was controllable but the way it behaved on the track last night...it's getting tightened and staying that way. I had to wheel the hell out of the car to get it back into the groove.

Theres not a cage in it yet. I plan on putting a bar in it over the winter.

Honestly, I don't know when it's enough. To chase the real record (fastest/quickest) means a commitment I'm not sure I'm willing yet to make. I kind of like it being a 8 sec capable pump gas car. We'll see after I turn the boost up and make some bigger power. That will be test.

Back on the dyno today. 913whp/685 ft lbs.... straight 93 ocatane. Has some room left too.
Fixed the wastegate issue and graph is the smoothest it's ever been. Holding rock steady boost and still climbing at 8000 RPM. Also had to replace the ETS as the car was acting RWD the last time to the strip. Going to incorporate the syvecs RWD controller to see if I can get more heat into the slicks this time.
Hold off winter!!

I wasn't planning on it. However, I don't feel like getting booted after paying and 1 pass. May come and watch!

Come on, Ranger Dan! lol

The only thing that's going to be broken the next time I'm out is my old record... and the 8 sec barrier.

Those numbers are insane for 93. I hope to see this car make a pass in person some time. Heading to Norwalk tomorrow for the Halloween classic.

It's been a while since I've posted let alone updated this thread. So here's what's happening:

The car is at Opeka Bodyshop to get painted pink and lips put on the front of it...lol JK. It's getting the rear bumper fixed as a ****ing asshat backed into me a while ago and I was more concerned with racing than looks. However, that got old every time I opened the garage as saw that blemish, so that's getting fixed. I recommend Opeka, they are really easy to deal with and have great customer service. They fixed one of my other cars for free as long as I did a fly by! lol (It wasn't a lot of work at all)

Next the car is getting loaded on the trailer and heading back out to Buschur Racing. I'm having the tune touched up, cage added, billet front diff installed, and going to try one more time for the 8 second pass on 93 octane before I say "**** it" and turning the car up...finally.

Once turned up I'd like to go after the Alpha 12 record which I believe is an 8.1. Then it's either onto bigger turbos and billet stuff or being happy with low 8's and try something else.

Hope everyone is great and your winter projects are coming along! Spring can't get here fast enough!!

It's been a while since I posted. I've been crazy with work and family and haven't had much time to race. The car finally made it's way back to Buschur for some much needed upgrades and some corn fuel. I'm putting the "8's on 93 Octane" on hold so I'm more competitive at the Shootout.

The car made 1058 whp/818 ft lbs of torque at only 34 psi of boost on E77 fuel. These numbers are on Buschur's Mustang AWD 500SE dyno.

Current Specs:

BR built 4.1 liter
BR Stage 3 ported head
272 cams,
BR-BFIC intercooler,
Alpha Carbon Fiber intake manifold,
Alpha turbo kit with a custom set of Xona Rotor XR7865 turbos
BR 3"x3"x3.5" mid pipe into custom BR 4" catback
Ivey Promax trans
DSS rear axles
BR upgraded billet front diff
BR upgraded front driveshaft.
FIC 2150's
Fore Innovation triple pump with complete fuel line upgrade

I'll be competing in the GTR Street 32 Class at The Shootout in a few weeks and we fully expect to see some low-low 8 second passes from the car. Lots more left in the car.

Rather than stressing the ETS on the dyno (we dyno in AWD, always) I'll save the extra boost and timing for the track once we see how we get this much power down track. I actually replaced the ETS again just to be sure it was holding power. This is a wear part on these cars. I had a loose one and nearly put it into the wall because the car want to behave like a RWD.

For reference, this would be about 1195 whp on a Dynojet and 924 ft lbs.

The turbos see 20 psi at 4500 rpm. The peak boost was 33.47 psi and on a 5th gear pull the intake air temps using BR's largest air to air intercooler, the BFIC were DOWN to 111 (start at 115) degrees at the end of the pull.

Injector duty cycle was only 71.61 peak, so we have a lot of room left on this simple 6 injector set up.

Also the WGDC was set at a flat 60% where it held a flat 33.47 psi of boost.

What a beast! Once you're able to put the power to the ground how much more does the car have left?

I'd guesstimate another ~200 WHP. I run a full slick in the back and a DR up front. Now with the billet front diff I'll be able to leave a little harder getting into the 1.2 short times (hopefully). Best 60ft to date is a 1.33.
