the thing is very touchy. about half the time when pulling out from a stop it looks like its my first time driving a stick. seems like there is no slipping at all, either in or out. this normal?

Your experience with your spec clutch is EXACTLY why I do not like them. I almost bought a spec clutch when I replaced mine a few years back until I drove a car with one... I knew within the first 10 seconds of driving it that I wouldn't buy one due to its on/off nature. I wanted a clutch that could hold everything I could throw at it, yet still be docile enough to be street driven. I found that in my pro motion "kustom" clutch setup. I'm not sure about the stage 2 spec, but I know the stage 3 and up lack a monsels (sp) spring between the clutch material and the disc itself which makes the situation even worse.

In my Beretta GTZ I have a spec stage 2 and it works great. I can ride the clutch on a hill and it won't chatter at all. Do you have a clutch quad and a firewall adjuster?? I also have a stage 3 in my 00GT and it can still be feathered, but it does catter a little bit. The only Spec that I drove that was like an off on switch was a stage 5.

I just adjusted my Ram Powergrip today and made it alot more street friendly. I set it so that it picks up almost immediately off of the floor, and now im really starting to like this clutch alot more. Very close to my stock 100,000+ mile clutch except for the fact that it dosent slip.

Adam - you're hysterical. :laughing1: But you're right, he did weld 2 of the suckers and we have images on the web page.

thanks guys...i do have the quad and firewall adjuster. i was thinking since i posted this, and maybe i should check the adjustment. maybe the clutch wore in a little bit, and it needs some fixin.

For optimum transmission life & performance, 0.70" airgap is reccomended.
Thats right where I set mine.

i personaly hate the spec clutches, i have great luck with centerforce, they feel great for daily driving and grip like a mofo at the track

I think that's the nature of kevlar clutches.

I have a spec stage 3 in my car and it's tricky getting used to, can't slip it like the stocker, also chatters a little unless you get the revs up then it's no problem. Can't speak for the other clutches cause I never tried them.

I have a ram power grip HD on a steel flywheel and it is very streetable.
Spec2 clutch on a Fidenza aluminum flywheel. I daily drive it and find it feels perfectly normal with excellent street manners. I don't have any chattering and can pull out on a steep hill without an issue. I used this same clutch on a different car before and liked it alot.
6grand dump and go at track :awsome:
