Hey everyone! Excited to be here. I found this site through a friend at work. I have had previous fox bodies but this is my first 35th anniversary v6 5spd. I like it so far, but needs some work. Hope to be able to contribute and also find what I am looking for too!

Dan can do a GTR conversion on it, the last one was a huge success.

I'm kind of a big deal when it comes to GT-R conversions.

OP, if you have any questions on that car, I'd like to think I know something about the 3.8 stuff

ok, I have one for you and anyone else that might have an idea. I replaced the plugs, wires, oil, filter, air filter (Cold air cone) when I bought the car about 2 weeks ago. When I pull out, there is lots of torque, there is a vibration (Like a mis fired cylinder) from about 2000rpm and up. Also the power seems to drop off at 3000rpm. After 3000rpm, it seems to have very fast spurts of power, for almost a second every 5 or so seconds. It is smooth at idle, and seems smooth on a rev. It did this from the time I bought the car and after I have done the work I did.

Could this be a timing chain issue or possibly partial clogged cats? Any and every thought is welcomed

May be worth replacing the coil pack as well. Get a motorcraft one if you do. Timing chain is pretty uncommon issue with these motors. Cats is possible.
Other thoughts would be new front o2 sensors. How many miles are on it?

Doesn't smoke or anything? Lose oil or coolant?

it has 204000 miles on it. no smoke, no leaks, no noises (other than the TOB)

with that many miles a coil pack and some front o2 sensors is a good idea, especially if they're original

DarkPhoenix0507

if they have been replaced, "IF", they used OE. I highly doubt they changed them tho. I also changed the fuel filter too, just an FYI

I think I may take the road of the coil and O2's

also, one last thing, just remembered. At idle, it will pop through the throttle body every now and then.

Last one, Ill post in the repair section from here on out :)

Bad coil - use Motorcraft only. Easy and cheap fix. No CEL?

That's one of the reasons I need to go back to my roots of straight mechanics, obviously with help from you fine people :):biggrin-new:

Check plug gap and make sure the plug wires are routed to correct cylinders.

OK, checked the coil pack, and double checked the firing order. The coil is strong and the FO is good. I estimated my gas mileage,.......... I think I am going to change all 4 O2 sensors soon.

I dont think 10 MPG on the highway is acceptable on this car. I went from Baldwin to Butler, from butler to Monroeville, and Monroeville to Baldwin. Used 3/4 tank. It was all mostly highway and really not far. :(
