How does that compare with your old car after you did the PI swap? I can't remember what you numbers were from the last dyno day.

Not to bad but I would think you should have come closer to 245+rwhp.

EDIT: I'm sure ole Rob1997GT is going to come on here calling me out. OK, here's the deal. If you go up the street and get your neighbor (cam99) to wear a skirt and throw the hanky we can see what you got on the Clinton Bypass.[/QUOTE]

How come you always want to see me in a skirt..damn you Fayette county boys:biglaugh: . Rob is definately going to want a piece of your new GT. I'll take a crack at you both in the notch. I'll surely lose miserably, but I'll take a shot none the less.:boxing:

I actually laid the sheets next to each other and they're almost identical. Same hp/tq at same rpm. old car was 237/273.

yeah, Ares... I had the other car dyno'd at Stropes a few months before the 237/273 and got 249/293 on a similar dynojet... same mods. I think Hybrid's dyno is stingy and they were bitching about the dyno "brake" being broken or not working right. Maybe too much load ??? I don't know anything about them. I do know that this car feels stronger than the other one. I'm sure it's all in my head, but maybe stiffer suspension and better steering response just make it feel a tad better.

not goin to leak any bad secrets about the ole 97 huh? whats up with the 237/273?? oh well i gave it a tune up, and it should be making the 249/293 or more right now..i am going to get it dynoed at hybrid dynamics mainly to check air fuel mixture to see if i need a tune or not.

I have noticed nearly a tenth in Et from pulleys on both my 2000 and 2004 GT's. Let the mod motor breath in and out and play with the suspension and they will suprise you how quick they can actually run without really touching the motor. Stock tune and nothing but 87 octane fuel :)

Welp, I did some more research on the 'ole 97. I had it dyno'd after the headswap and all other bolt-ons EXCEPT PULLEYS AND TUNE and stock gears (3.27). It put down 249/293 at Strope's on or about December 2004.

Then, I put 4.10s in it and got a mail-order tune. I then went to Hybrid on or about June 2005 and it put down 237/273. I also ran it on the stock tune and it put down 235/270 (pig-rich A/F but only lost 3HP?) Different dyno, different day. whatever. I was disappointed, but I knew the car didn't run any different than it had so I chalked it up as a whack dyno or that much loss from the gears???

Well, in April 2006, I went back to Hybrid's for the SCS dyno day and it put down 246/292 (after only PULLEYS). I don't have a printout from this day because it was busy, but I remember those numbers.

So, I believe I picked up 9hp and 19ft-lbs from only pulleys. I've done a boatload of research on these damn pulleys and some people have claimed that in combination with all other bolt-ons, they have been known to show 15-20TQ and about 1/2 that in HP, so I do believe these claims.

Point is... Steeda pulleys are ordered. I'll keep the old ones if I do decide on S/C later. WTF is $200 if it does indeed free up 15-20 ft-lbs of TQ, that's a good mod IMO.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
well if you think about there is alot of factors that take effect when you want to know how much hp a car is putting down. Things like outside air temperature, humidity, and other weather related things. Also every dyno is different, a dynojet dyno might read differently than a K&N dyno. I swear Troll my car feels like it has 50 more HP on a cool night after a hot humid day!! LoL. Does your new car do the same thing? both of my friends cars do. and if anyone else reads this does your car do that too?

In the new 5.0 mag out they did the same mods that you did adam and they got about the same numbers

The intake air temp. will alter how much timing advance the ECU will allow so cooler is certainly better.

Cam, is this still so with a custom tune? does the IAT sensor still pull timing or does the tune override it?

I would guess that it wouldn't on a custom tune. I know on my car it doesn't start pulling timing until the intake air temp gets up to 150* I doubt that the intake air on a N/A car would ever get that high so they might be a little more aggressive with the timing at lower temps and start pulling timing a little sooner. It's definitely a parameter that your tuner can change though, so the only way to tell for sure would be to ask them.

Mr. Rob

yes Rob, it does... but there is a correction factor on most dynos that takes temp and humidity into effect. all of the above numbers are "corrected".
oh yea i didnt know the dyno can correct for that. but still no dyno will be 100% accurate.

Ray already answered this, but I agree that it would depend on the tuner. I would imagine that you could find some extra horsepower by not pulling timing, but I wonder how hot the ambiant temp would have to get before it would cause some detonation if the timing never retarded.. They actually sell resistors on e-bay that plug into the iat sensor to fool the computer that the air temp. is always cold so that it won't pull timing.

I heard that buying one of those resistors is the worst thing you can do to your car.

I sure wouldn't put one on mine, but in theory it would work. The intake air sensor just has a resistance value that varies based on the temperature, the resistor just provides the sensor a constant value (which would keep timing at max advance)

Given rule is 100hp = 1sec, 100lbs = 1 tenth(course when it comes to heavy vehicles or low ET vehicles then more power or weight reduction is needed to run faster).

I'd say pulleys on a 2v mod motor are good for about 10-12hp at the flywheel which should drop about a tenth off the ET of a 99+ GT.

As for the IAT sensor. On earlier cars that had seperate IAT from MAF you could pull sensor from intake tube and put it in fender where air should be cooler. I think I tried that on my 2000Gt but don't remember much if any improvement at track.

Pulleys feel good. Now, is it because it's 60* outside today or did they really do something? One thing I do notice is that it's much smoother down-shifting. I guess it makes sense with less drag on teh crank... just seems to rev a lot smoother and decel with ease. I'm happy now... when's the next dyno day. Car prolly never make it to the track. Might as well be a DYNO QUEEN. :biglaugh:

Bring it to the track one time I want to race the old pig and put a whooping on it.

Not sure if 100 lbs. weight reduction is *worth* a tenth.( Where the weight is takin' out of and *if* the car can hook after the weight reduction) What I've discovered is the requisite 100 lb. loss or less when the car becomes lighter, is that it will give you 1 MPH. To say a tenth per 100 lb. requires proper weight distribution and a suspension that is working.
