I have an 06 stang GT and have the pleasure living in Alleg. County - I did put more than the 6k in miles on the car last year and need emissions testing. Everything passed but the OBD readiness. I have a C&L CAI and custon tunes from Brenspeed. Well I failed - found out the back o2 sensors are turned off - I replaced the stock air box and stock tune, went back and still failed. Does it take a while for the computer to reset all the diags. and learn? How far to I need to run the car to get all the computer stuff to reset to stock after the reset.

The one mechanic has a stang as said the o2 preheat has to reset first before the other diags will read - I never let the car cool so they probally did not reset. Any of you have the same problems?

Thanks guys!

Nice to see you found the site bud. I could give you a printout of the specific drive cycles for your 06, but like I told you, they are kinda a PIA sometimes. Enjoy the nice weekend and rack a few miles on it, the monitors just need to reset themselves. :awsome:

when i put my stock ECU back in my GTP and went to get it inspected, it took almost 1000 miles for the o2 sensor checks to run and pass.

Thats odd. My rear o2's on my cobra are also shutoff through my SCT tune. My car passes every year...

This wouldn't be the reason he is having trouble Dan. More than likely the battery was disconnected recently and he did not perform enough drive cycles to reset the monitors the computers needs to pass emissions.

Turning the cat efficiency o2 sensors off(rear ones) in the tune won't affect this.

I have a few of the trouble codes for particular functions that I turn off when I burn tunes for my Cobra.

The problem was the "readiness monitors" weren't set. He flashed the tune the day he brought his car in, so of course they weren't set. Beings its an S-197 and all the new emissions parameters involved, as well as the newer software, I wasn't 100% sure that they would set just by driving it. I know with the older software (up to '04) you can turn off the back O2s and still get all the monitors to run, no problems. But with the new software ( '05+) not sure if the computer will see that the back O2s are "off" and NOT run the O2 heater and O2 monitors. I just told him to call SCT and see what they said. They told him to set it back to stock and drive it. So now I am wondering how ADVANCED the new software really is??? I heard it took a while to "crack" the factory software.

I'm not sure either. I have never fooled with the Spanish Oak processors.

Well talked to a service manager at a Ford place today - the New 06 computers take 100 miles to cycle and set - yes I did reset the computer just before getting the emissions. then I placed the stock tune back with the stock air box and just did not drive it enough. Got on the pike - went to Irwin and back then got it tested and all passed.

Thanks to the patience of the people at J&T Tire in Allison Park for giving me 4 tries to pass the emissions. Been going there 6 years and they work on all 5 of my cars - Always treated me well... Thanks..
