Fox Body Mustang Frame Rail Repair

I see alot of nice looking fox body Mustangs with the frame rails rotting. Anyone ever fix frame rails? You would think someone would make a frame rail repair kit. Shame to see alot of nice foxbodies get parted out instead of fixed.

Unfortunately, I keep trying to find the time to fix mine but it hasn't made it to the top of the priority list.

As Dave posted there are aftermarket "kits" that have the repair sections. Idk that they are as nice as getting an entire clip or section of a clip from a junkyard. The proper way to do it is drill all the spotwelds out down the apron and frame rail section from top to bottom back by the firewall. It then should slide out. Theres "how to" articles on four eyed pride i do believe. Iv also saw people repair it by cutting the rusted section out and welding plate or other pieces of frame rail back in.

At least there are options out there. It just seems too many nice Mustangs get junked because of frame rails.

My '04 went on both sides. With passenger side the worst. Cut it out and rebuilt. Also used 1/8" plate the length of both rails to strengthen and clean up all the factory holes.

Surprisingly, my original paint 86 GT is still super clean underneath. Frame rails are mint. I thought about looking into a Mustang that needs frame rails repaired hoping it would not be that bad.

The '84 GT350 I have is rock solid up front also. Floors are worst thing on the car since it is a vert. One day I will find time to work on it.

Is yours a 5.0 or a turbo 4? I test drove a used 5.0 ‘84 350 in college (around 1989) and it was beat to hell. Still a neat car though!
