Took the car up to Clarion today for some flashlight drag action. Ill run my results down run by run.
1) VS 1969 Ford Falcon- Built 347 stroker Auto 5500 stall. LOSS
Had my ET streets set at 20 psi and spun the hell outta them. I should have beat this guy bad but the car spun through second gear.
2) VS 70's Chevy Malibu- 468? stroker motor and suporting goodies. WIN
Guy claimed he had 25 grand in the motor alone. ET streets were at 16 psi and still spun the hell outta them. I pedeled the throttle and managed a win here.
3) VS 60's Dodge Coronet- 451 stroker motor and supporting goodies. WIN
ET streets were at 12 psi here and still spun through 2nd gear. Drove around him for the win.
4) VS 67 Chevelle- 468 stroker motor. WIN
Guy claimed 570 to the wheels. ET streets were at 10 psi and still spun bad.
To my suprise i was selected to the BIG DOG showdown. For those unfamiliar they try to selected the fastest 8 cars and run single elimination playoff style pairings. I was paired against the Coronet i ran earlier. I spun the tires horribly and had a near loss.
I learned some things today. 1) ET streets dont hook well at the flashlight drags. 2) Old guys with big cubic inch motors go fast. 3) The old 100,000 mile 302 held up pretty well against the faster cars there.
