Which airbrush kit do you have or what to you recommend? I want to start learning now since my brother sorta put me in his plans for a custom shop. Appartently he thinks if you can paint with a brush you can airbrush. lol. But I would love to learn so I figured I would get started. I'm also looking into classes for body work and the like. Should be fun!:laughing1:

I'm really sorry i missed this thread, I use a badger 150 right now and i'm going to upgrate to an iwata at some point in the future. the 150 is a great starter brush and I actually have a spare one here that needs bout 10 dollars worth of a check valve part, I can sell you the whole thing for 50 bux if you want, comes with the hose, adapter for an air compressor, small spray cup, and a needle or 2 if you'd like. parts for them are really cheap too.

lol, its cool. I figured you don't get on every day. Have you looked at any of the dvds on methods for sculls and such? I saw a few and thought about picking them up. I am bidding on two sets right now, but if I don't win them maybe I'll buy yours. :goodidea:

With airbrushing remember 2 things: 1. If you're painting fire it goes over black. 2. Everything else has to be painted over white, so if you're doing a black piece and you want to paint a picture on it you have to put a base of white first (light) and then paint over top.

I live in freeport which is north of the city about 40min.
I wanted to let you know I decided to order a new airbrush so I also have mine available, full working same model as the one I was going to originally sell you, comes with the hose, 2 paint cups, 2 jars, couple more needles, and a few other accessories, i'll part with all of that for $110 if you want. otherwise offer still stands.

I'd highly recommend registering and buying the magazine at
http://www.airbrushtechnique.com/forums/index.php
They've helped me out a lot in the beginning.
I also get my paints off ebay from 2 vendors, one is stevensons supply, the other is like tpg global or something like that. I use only HOK paints when I spray.
Make sure when you use masking tape you use the purple stuff that's good for fresh paint, anything else will lift the paint easily even with a well prepped surface since the HOK paints don't have a hardener.

cool thanks. what clear coat do you use?
Bluemeanietsi
07-30-2007, 01:20 PM
eastwoods premier clearcoat + activator. I'd look into buying one of the 30 dollar spray guns from ebay to apply the clear. I've used the 200 dollar guns and my 30 dollar spare gun they both spray the clearcoat the same.

I use this gun as well as the regulator for my airbrush, make sure you use a drier and a filter on your air compressor. If you haven't bought one yet you need one witha a tank as you'll need to put out between 20-40psi.
