I was driving my car last saturday night and the dash lights and rear parking lights quit working, but the brake lights were still working. Does any know what the problem might be?

Thanks
Mike

Check for a meltdown of the connector at the turn signal switch.

I'm going to check the fuses tomorrow but I don't think that will be it. Which switch are you talking about, the head light switch or the dimmer switch? I was leaning towards the switch also but I wasn't sure if it would do something like that.

I wasn't running fog lights.

The headlight switch is always what goes bad in the foxes but normally first sign is when headlight shut on and off when running driving lights. but like Ed said had combo switches go bad also they carry a big load and stock foxes suk on charging.

Typically yes, but most people don't bother to check the turn signal switch on the column cause they don't realize all the wiring for the headlights goes thru that switch.

Well the fuses are good and so is the headlight switch. I think it is the switch with the wheel to dim the dash lights because it was acting weird for awhile now. Has anyone ever had problems with it?

Did you pull the column apart and check the turn signal switch?

I pulled the column apart but I don't see any visible evidence to a melt down.

i did as well..and didnt see any meltdown....but im going to buy a new turn signal and headlight and dimmer switch to see if that fixes it...will make it easier to sell.

sometimes it is very minor, but it doesnt take much to mess up electrical.

I just went through this my dash lights and tail lights were not working but all others did, I found it was my headlight switch and plug they were melted together, You said you checked your headlight switch but we have the same symptoms

None thing looks melted and I did change the headlight switch and it didn't work. The dash lights started going out about two years ago but if I played with the dimmer I could get them to come back on but that doesn't work anymore. I'm going to buy a new dimmer switch they're a $130 and if that doesn't work then I'll buy the turn signal switch.

If you want to bring the car out to my Dad's in Rostraver on Saturday, I have another dimmer switch you can try before you go spending $130 for another one. I think I might have a turnsignal switch you could try also.

Yeah I would appreciate it. I have it taken apart so it should only take a couple minutes and you could take a look and see if you see anything.

Thanks to ViperED my lights are working again. It wasn't any bad switches. Ed found some bad wiring in the dash and got it fixed up and it didn't cost me a penny. Thanks again Ed I would have spent about $250 in new switches and and wasn't that.:woot1:
