What are the restrictions on tinting? My friend got pulled over last night because of his tinting. He has 10 days to peel it off or pay a $170 fine. Anything he can do or is he stuck taking it off?

scrape it or pay it.

70% is the legal limit. did they use the meter? i had 30% on my monte carlo and with the factory tint on the glass it registered 19% on the tint meter

I don't think they did use a meter. but isn't it ok to have the back windows done?

Good luck. I know people who've been pulled over for having just the back windows tinted. My last car had tint on it a couple of diff times due to being pulled over and the stang is tinted 20% all around. I guess you've to have luck on your side or something.lol

i was stopped 2 months ago for tint, and the state policeman said to me that you can have the rear windows as dark as you want... but 70% otherwise...

that sucks.. i'd fight it... you can fight it if you want, b/c i looked up the laws when i was stopped, and its a VERY VAGUE law... you could put up argument after argument and likely win

yea.. i got pulled over because my car was too loud before.. Bish is right, you can have the back ones as dark as you want, but the front you can not. that is why new cars only have the back windows tinted when they are new.

You can be stopped only for tint. Happened to me twice. Once in my VW and once in my mustang. I had 20% on my VW and the front windows half way up and driving by an undercover cop. Pulled over and ticketed.

The second time I was sitting in traffic at a red light in my GT with the front windows DOWN. The cop pulled off the center median and got behind me. Started moving again and bam, pulled over and ticketed.

From how it was explained to me, in PA you can not have any windows tinted. Apparently there is a factory tint on the windows that is very light to prevent UV rays and that is the only kind of tinting that is allowed. Well that and factory tint on SUV's/minivans of course. Pretty much from my two experiences, if it isn't factory then its illegal in PA.

If he has any friends that are cops, they can just sign the warning and he can mail it in without removing any tint.

That's a warning. It becomes a ticket if it is not signed off on by a police officer within the 10 days. Basically the cop signs off stating that you have removed the tint.

I was given one for the windows in my Lightning once and had a friend sign the warning later that night and mailed it in to the police department where I was stopped.

No, it can be any cop. He will just fill out his dept. info and badge number and sign it. I was stopped outside Apollo and had a local cop sign mine.
