Whats up guys, i am now accepting resumes for an open position at the garage... I am looking for someone who wants to learn how to do things the right way and has some automotive background, owning your own tools would be a big plus... If you have any fab or welding experience that is also a big plus. please feel free to pm me or call me if you are interested Thanks Tim

I've had two people work for me from Wyo. One still does. I can tell you now you cant take somone striaght from there and expect them to perform. Both my guys spent a year, if not more fabricating for Ibes tek. Which is a DOD contractor. From that they both could weld very well, but still had little more than a general overview of cars. Its gonna take years and years of experience working hands on in the field, but people with that kind of experience come with a price tag!

Hey now, lets stop knocking the wyotechers here. There are a few of us that actually know whats going on. You get what you put into it, if you are a slacker, you wont learn a thing, ,if you pay attention and work hard, you can learn quite a bit.
Story time:
Take for example the first two weeks at my job after graduating. It just so happens that there is another kid that works there that graduated with me. It was pathetic and embarrissing to say that we graduated from the same school. He could absolutely not open the hood of any GMC trucks, even after you showed him. After a few days, they just started giving him oil changes, and even then he was inept. It was taking him two hours to change the oil on a car, when with our checklist we do plus the LOF it should take half an hour tops. You are only getting paid 0.3/hour for one anyway, so it was really bad. Needless to say, after a week and a half, he was fired. Its rather unfair to assume that all students are like that, but its people like that, that just keep fueling the fire. :o

That is one way to put it... I was 9 months out of school and have been doing at LEAST 50 percent of the fabricating at Domination Chassis since then. I'm sure there are plenty of idiots that have graduated from WyoTech, but my WyoTech fab skills can hang with anyone on this site.

Wyotech has a pretty damn good collision and refinishing school, automotive repair is alittle bit lacking. However they are one of the only schools in the USA to offer Chassis Fabrication and High Perormance Powertrain. Just like any other tech school, you don't learn shit if you don't want to so if he's not commited then i would advise against it. Wyotech just has a bad rap around here becuase it's the only tech school around that has any number students. It only takes one bad hire for a shop to think Wyotech sucks.

There alot more to this than the schools. There are some just plain dumb people out there. If the person dosent have the capabilities to do the work then it dosent matter what school you go to. I see this all the time at my job, some people just get it and others never do no matter how long they train & who they have train them. You can only go as far as your own intelligence & abilities will take you.
