On my 98 GT, would the PI head swap make that much of a difference? I was looking for Trick flow heads, but it looks like they don't make 'em for the 4.6.

PI heads port and polished, worth doing?

Edit: btw I have the Eaton Supercharger and Comp Cams.

You already know my opinion. I think it would help you out a lot but i would be careful since the pi heads raise the compression a bit.

I believe ford racing sells an adapter to use with the pi heads.

I'm just curious if the PI heads are any better or close to aftermarket heads. If that's the case with the ports not aligning, I'll look for another intake.

If you were doing it as part of a motor rebuild with different pistons then it would definitely be worth while for the extra flow. But if you're just planning on swapping heads then I don't think it would be good for you because it would increase the compression which would limit the amount of boost you could run.

It will be after a rebuild. I'm planning on a 8:1 compression ratio so I can get plenty of boost and fuel in the cylinders, H-beams, etc.; all of the good stuff I'm saving up to afford.

Still deciding on a crank. Already got good cams. May need a different manifold. Exhaust is the way I like it. Fuel system can handle the work load. And I'm gonna need a clutch.

I'm looking at RAM for a clutch. Any good suggestions for the crank?

I would just go with a 03/04 cobra crank since they are forged. Thats what VT and many others use in their built motor combo's. Also, most of the aftermarket heads out there are just ported factory PI's.

worth it. you would probably pick up about 40 horses, but you better check the ports on the bottom of that Eaton S/C. It's probably non-PI specific. non-PI heads have circular ports and PI have squarish ports. Somebody might sell a transfer plate, but you're not going to see the full benefit of the PI heads with the smaller intake runners on the non-PI Eaton. I don't know how they're put together, but you might be able to get a PI lower manifold if it's a two-piece deal. ???

I don't know what your using for a lower manifold, or what Eaton you have, but Lightnings came with PI heads.

In fact, I was just researching it and I found out its called the Ford SVO Supercharger kit.

So I'll need a whole nother supercharger kit when I swap heads. Bummer. That'll cost more money than I have right now.

i just took a car i built to the dyno with pi heads on it and it made 480 at the wheels with simple mods...

From his pictures, it looks like he has the Ford Racing Eaton that is specific to the 96-98 non PI cars.

NA? That is pretty seriuos numbers for PI heads. My truck was making a hair under that supercharged. I had a 6 lb lower and all the bolt ons. It made 600 torque, but i was making 17lbs of boost. I would love to know what you did to make that kinda power on PI heads.

So wait a minute. You made 480 with no boost or N20?

Its all in the combo, and i think a NX 50hp shot of N2O is pretty basic...

Oh yea....PI heads on a 96-98 need to be done. Its like upgradeing E7s on a 5.0. Damn, I hate E7s. I wish I could put the same heads I have on the notch on the GT.......:bouncy:

But the problem is I wouldn't have the money to switch superchargers. I'm pretty sure my kit is for non PI heads. It's the Ford SVO Supercharger kit.

Maybe porting and polishing non-PI heads? :dunno:

You could. Another thing you could do is try to sell your current set up. I have sold head/intake combos in the past on e-bay. Maybe post up your supercharger on e-bay and see what happens. Some people would rather hear it and see it on a car before they buy it anyway!

One more thing.......crownvic.net Those guys will jump on that. They are into those cars more than we are into our mustangs I think! The vics didnt change to PI untill 01 or 02 unlike the mustangs did in 99. Try it!

pretty basic, but not exactly a "bolt on" more like a power adder.
