I'm trying to find some parts for the big block 460 that I'm building for my '48 ford pickup project. I have a 1973 460 that I'm planning on rebuilding. Mainly looking for performance parts like heads, intake, etc. Any DOVE parts would be great. Let me know what you have. Thanks.

Let me see if I have anything "performance" for the 385 series left. I know they lost a lot of power in 73 - A nice set of CJ heads will help!

coralcoupe1993,let me know what you dig up. Yeah, some CJ heads would be killer, but I know they are VERY hard to find. I'm hoping to find some DOVE or police interceptor heads. I think just about anything is better than the D3VE heads that I have on this motor.

sweeney1030,do you have any pics of that starter? If so,send some to dani0277@aol.com . I just might be interested.

Thanks guys,
Mark

Bingo even if you can find some D0VE-D1VE heads they are good to. I cant remember how D2's are.....I think D3 is when the power dipped but it may be 72???? As of right now, the only thing I see is a set of Powered By Ford Valve covers and I think a D2 Damper. I will see if I left any thing in my dads barn.

One of the best PI finds I found with the 385 stuff was some cast header/manifolds from a 70 cop car. They aren’t as good as the 427 Cast long tubes ( have a set on the 64 ) But they still had damn near 2" preliminaries!

Stay away from the high pressure and high volume oil pumps, they will eat the distributor gears off as fast as you can put them on.

I have a tunnel ram and a matching set of carbs for a 460, let me know.

speedracer, thanks for the advice on the oil pumps. I guess I'll just put a standard volume/pressure oil pump in it when I do the rebuild.

rodeheaver's,I was planning on staying with a single carb setup. My motor actually has an edelbrock performer intake on it already(but I don't know what kind of power it's capable of making). The tunnel ram would look cool though!

Thanks for the replies.

Well, you can put a hardened gear in. However, I agree no need for high volume/pressure. One issue I had was that the oil wasnt draning from the heads back into the motor quick enough.

I had a hi volume in my service truck and in a matter of 5 weeks I ate through 2 cast iron gears and a bronze gear. I put a standard oil pump in and 6 months later the cast gear still looks new.

Well,I found an intake. Now I'd really like to find a pair of performance heads. A pair of DOVE or PI heads would be ideal. Let me know what's out there. Thanks.
