with the new house purchase and my much bigger driveway, i have had the bright idea of getting a 4x4 quad so i can plow snow in the winter.

The dealer had a 300cc Polaris Hawkeye and a 360CC Kawasaki Prairie both 4x4. i really like the polaris. in fact want a bigger one like a sportsman 450 or 500 but not sure if the funds will permit...

anyways when buying a new quad is it like buying a new car or can you haggle off the price of the msrp on the sticker?
Polaris is giving $1 per cc off on the 07's while kawasakis giving a winch for $69 with the prarie
thanks

I have a Honda Forman 450s than my Dad plows his driveway with. We got a 5' plow which really makes it nice. Make sure you spring for the winch as well. It makes raising and lowering the plow much nicer. They're a little more money that the electric lift kits they make for the plows, but the electric lift kits wear out in a few years and let the plow sag sown after you raise it. Plus the winch comes in habdy in numerout other ways as well.

You can definately haggle the msrp. You should be able to get one OTD for a few hundred less than msrp. Mine was about 200 or 250 under msrp. That included winch, taxes, registration and whatever else they charge for nowadays. Go to a few dealers and play them off each other. Seems like someone is always running a special on winches or snowplows.

Based on my experiences with the Honda 300 Four Trax, I would say yes. You may be limited to only a 3' or 4' plow with the 300 though.

The Hawkeye is underpowered. The Kawi 360 has decent power to it for its size. Its transmission has a high and low range which would be good for plowing snow etc.. My boss' wife made a spur of the moment trade on a white 360 a few months back. I think that they are trying to get rid of it, because she isnt comfortable with it. I rode it and its plenty powerful, and rides well. The 360 also has the availability to lock in the front wheels for true 4 wheel drive. I wouldnt even consider the hawkeye for anything other than trail riding. PM me if you want me to see what they want for it. It has less than 3 hours on it.
