I use dupont base clear 2 stage in spray cans, my local auto body supply shop will custom mix anything the base is usally about $15 a can and the clear is $13 . its pricey but unreal when used. I just did a replica of my (su) amazon green coupe with it and it is more glossy than most cars on the road, the only kits I have problems with are the amt type cheapo's, the castings are thin and pull the paint if I rush the clear on without letting the base cure. kits from monogram on the other hand don't soak up the paint . I never prime any kits becuuse you seem to lose detail. give it a try you dont have to use dupont but like anything else with cars you get what you pay for . lastly krylon sucks I would put it on anything . good luck hope this helps
